Translation

This journey starts with a single leaf, while another winds through a coral reef.
Some journeys are made by millions of beasts, all in search of one big feast.
These animals migrate on an annual quest, but each of them have places they like best.
Keep watching to find out where they'll go.
It could be above, or it could be below.
This is a future monarch butterfly.
Its life begins as an egg glued to a milkweed leaf.
In a few days, it hatches into a caterpillar, and all it does for about two weeks is eat, and eat, and eat some more.
Then it does something wild.
It wraps itself up into a hard casing called a chrysalis, and in ten days it emerges as a butterfly.
When a butterfly comes out of its chrysalis, it weighs less than a paperclip, at under half a gram.
Then it has one big journey ahead.
When autumn comes, it'll soar farther than some birds ever will.
But it won't do that on its own.
Monarch butterflies migrate from Canada all the way to Mexico.
That's three thousand miles.
And when you see a bunch of butterflies all flying together,
that's called a kaleidoscope because their fluttering wings and bright colors create an optical illusion that looks just like a moving piece of art.
None of these butterflies have ever made the trip before, but they know exactly where to go because they use the sun like a compass.
Some scientists believe monarchs also use the Earth's magnetic field to guide their way, especially on a cloudy day.
We've collected our first card: the monarch butterfly.
Power up, solar navigator.
Distance up to three thousand miles.
Right now, this herd of wildebeest has everything it needs: plenty of grass, plenty of water.
But that's about to change.
As the dry season creeps in, the grass disappears.
So the wildebeest begin an incredible trek, chasing the rain.
A group of wildebeest is called a confusion.
Really, there's no question about that.
It's likely because when they all get together, they make a lot of noise and move around in wild patterns.
This group is part of a mass migration that, by some estimates, includes more than a million animals.
On their journey, the herds encounter one of their biggest obstacles: the Mara River.
They don't have a bridge across, so they do the only thing they can: they go in together and swim.
With every determined paddle of their legs, they are one step closer to fresh grass.
and next year the wildebeest does it all again.
We've collected our second card: the wildebeest power up river crosser distance a thousand mile loop.
Now we journey from the river to the sea.
All summer, humpback whales in Antarctica have been feeding in cold waters packed with food, such as plankton or small fish.
But once winter sets in, it's time for the whales to swim somewhere warmer and somewhere much, much further away.
And just like butterflies and wildebeest, they will do this together.
A group of whales is called a pod because when they travel, they stay close to each other, like a family road trip, or should we say waterway trip?
And these whales are about to swim up to five thousand miles north to their winter home in warm tropical seas, without stopping to eat along the way.
How do they do that?
Whales have a thick layer of fat called blubber to thank for that.
They build up blubber all summer long, and they use it as a way to store the energy they need for their long trip.
The humpback whales travel more than half the entire distance around the planet, and farther than the monarch and the wildebeest distances combined.
Once they reach their destination in warmer waters, they give birth to calves.
That's a baby whale.
The babies learn important skills in the warmer waters near the equator before making the trip back to Antarctica with the rest of the pod.
Great job!
We've collected our third and final animal card: the humpback whale.
Power up, Ocean Marathoner.
Distance: five thousand miles.
You could be a butterfly flying south, a wildebeest swimming across a river, or a whale crossing the entire ocean.
No matter how you get there, you always find your way home.
