Translation

This tiny dingo puppy had been spotted surviving on bugs and whatever scraps she could find.
When I first saw her, my heart just broke.
She was just terrified.
She was really emaciated.
No one was able to capture her.
It's clear that Yindi had been through a lot.
She was covered in ticks and parasites, and one of her back legs was clearly broken.
Dingoes can't survive without a family in the wild.
She had this really cute little cast, and she was so, so scared of everything.
Her dogs, cats, and other rescued dingoes helped show Yindi how things worked around here.
She became really comfortable with me.
I had to pick her up and carry her everywhere.
And very slowly, Yindi started to let her guard down.
I think she found a lot of comfort having dog company.
The terrified puppy was finally learning how to play, relax, and enjoy being part of a family.
During the time we had her in care, we actually had a cyclone, and Yindi was with us through all of that.
Unfortunately, because Yindi can't be released back into the wild, she'll need a permanent home.
The next goal for me was finding her a safe forever home.
Fast forward about a year and a half later, Yindi is now living her best life.
Yindi's family live on the Cape here, so they're the ones that we're really fighting for with the Wild Dingo Project, the Ningaloo Dingo Project that we're doing.
One of the hardest and saddest parts of rescuing dingoes is that if the wrong government official or wrong person gets there before I did, she would have been euthanized.
We really hope one day that dingoes are a protected species here, and our government agencies, their well-being alongside the other wildlife in Australia.
But in the meantime, we'll be out there fighting for them.
Bringle Davies has spent most of her life in the water.
As a marine biologist, freediver, and surfer, the ocean was once her entire world.
When she started the Ballu Blue Foundation in 2016, her main focus was protecting marine life.
But after years along the coast, she realized to protect the sea, you also need to protect the land.
We had a little crescent turn that we got in yesterday or the day before, and he's actually doing pretty well.
But we've been getting a lot of these guys, so her work expanded even further.
In Australia, dingoes play a somewhat similar role to wolves in North America.
As native predators, they play an incredibly important part in keeping the ecosystem in balance.
But much like wolves, they're also deeply misunderstood.
Dingoes face threats from injuries, trapping, poisoning, and even diseases like mange.
And while mange can be treated, there's one pretty big problem.
First, you have to find the dingoes.
The Ningaloo Coast where Bringle lives is enormous, and these are wild animals who can travel across huge stretches of land.
You go to go to sleep, Missy.
What are you going to do with?
Doing?
What are you guys doing?
So in 2024, Brinkley and the Blue Blue Foundation launched a new project with the mission to better understand these wild dingoes so they can protect them.
Brinkley and her team uses photos, videos, and sightings from the local community to identify individual dingoes, monitor their health, and locate animals who may need veterinary care.
Now they're hoping to expand that work with more trail cameras and GPS trackers.
While Yindi is unable to return back into the wild, so many others were able to do exactly that.
They've been treated, recovered, and released back into the wild where they belong.
