Where is it?
Any food allergies I should know about?

Wow, what an outfit you have on.
Is this how you're dressing now?
This is.
I just got back from Burning Man.
Massive awakening.
This is this is the guy who came back.
A guy went out there, and then a different guy came back.
I think people think you're joking, but you aren't joking, are you?
I don't joke.
I don't do jokes.
You went to Burning Man.
I went to the desert, did jokes.
Now I do truths.
You really, yeah, you've changed in so many ways.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Are these prescription glasses?
These are prescription.
My buddy Scott Trainer gifted me these in Denver.
Has a great store, Queen City.
My whole interview becomes just plugs for your beads and Queen City Optics.
If you want to go, if you guys in Denver.
Who did you go to Burning Man with?
So I've gone two years in a row now.
I went last year with a group of friends.
We had our swizzle camp.
My buddy Corey took me out there, and Rory is his sort of family out there.
And I went this year, and it was the same family: Thor, Matt, Danny, Corey, our buddy David.
My wife came this year.
There's a friend named Thor.
Yeah.
Okay.
We know they have playa names out there.
What does that mean?
So I guess you know when you're out there, people feel like you have a certain vibe or kind of an energy.
They're like, "Oh, I feel like this is a name that kind of suits you." So when I was out there the first year, one night I went out with Corey.
We were in astronaut uniforms, and we were on a little bit of Molly, and we were dancing, and a buddy was like, "Like he was like, Rory's on an internal journey.
He's the Rocket Man," and I was like, "Yeah, hell yeah." So I don't tell people that here because you guys would think I was crazy.
I just still stick with Rory, and I was like, "I'll do the clothes.
I won't do the name." Did Rocket Man stick through this year?
You still Rocket Man?
No, I switched it.
I'm Applebee's now.
did a joke.
We're like, let's come up with like.
What are the rules here?
You can't say that.
Okay.
You can say.
We came up with crappy.
That you can say, yeah, yeah, yeah.
And I, I came up with Applebee's for my.
What is it about Burning Man?
I, I, I, you know, I haven't been, and I'm very closed-minded.
So please explain.
I think our, our, our different outfits right now show where our minds are at.
Yeah, I don't know.
It's just, it's, it's an incredible experience.
You get to go out to the desert.
It's, let's say, sixty thousand people, all deciding.
There's no booked shows or no booked bands.
It's sixty thousand people, truly releasing their artistic, creative selves, and whatever us people bring out there to the desert, that's the entertainment.
And everybody makes a concerted effort to really go big and try to blow each other's minds.
And it's, and it happens.
It's awesome.
It's very cool.
What did you, what did you do while you're there besides the dancing?
Drugs.
I was like, now we know it.
We can tell.
What do you tell the kids?
Tell me without telling me with your.
When mom and dad are headed to Burning Man, where do you tell the kids you're, you're going?
We said we're going to Burning Man.
You did.
You did sure.
My kid knew we, we let the babies know that physically we'd be back, but mentally we'd never be back.
I see.
I actually before I went, I asked my, my daughter.
I was like, do you care if I kind of come back a different person?
I was sort of setting an intention before I went, where I was like, you know, I want to really, sort of release this more artistic version of myself that I, I know is in there.
And my kid was like, well, I really like you.
And I go, well, I'll still be me.
I go, I think I just want to push myself as an artist, and my kid's an actor, and I think they were like, yeah, right, go for it.
And all I need was that permission.
Try to imagine my dad saying something like that to me, and it's not happening at all.
Oh yeah.
I mean, my, my dad is no longer with us.
Otherwise, I wouldn't be doing any of this.
Oh.
I do want to mention your dad.
Notice how we all laugh because we all relate to that.
I was like, yeah, that's right.
I'll never be my true self until my parents die.
Well, if this is any sign, both of my parents are gone, so now I can be the Rocket Man.
You gave, you spoke very beautifully about your dad at the end of your special, very emotionally about your dad and about your kids and, you know, him passing away, and it was really, it was really quite.
I mean, you were, tear, you were crying.
Yeah.
So something I'd not really seen in a, a comedy special.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I, I will say the first time going to just to tie it into all of this and this experience, the first time I went to Burning Man last year, was the first time I was in that kind of environment and with friends and really like, you know, tapping into a vulnerability that I hadn't really experienced before, and I, I gotta say that experience, is really what started churning the confidence to go on stage and even try something, like the end of my special.
I only did it at the taping.
I did jokes about merch and jokes about my dad, but I said when we go to shoot this thing, I kind of want to take, you know, in my head, I was like, I want to take two to three minutes to say what I would love to maybe say to my dad and see if it comes out, and if I can make it work, we leave it in the edit, and if it doesn't, you know, we make we chop it out.
And it, I didn't write anything down.
I just went out there and spoke, honestly, and I gotta say it was like, it was incredible, it was an incredible experience.
And he have liked it.
I, I don't know.
I, I mean, this is the catch twenty two of life.
I don't know if I would have gotten there if he was alive.
I think the reason I was able to get there in the special was because, I lived with the massive amount of regret that I couldn't seem to get there while he was alive and really express.
No, guys, calm down.
I, I start crying now.
They're like, he's just still in it.
This guy's on Molly right now.
Yeah, I, I think I had that regret, and I was like, you know what?
I'm not this expressive person, and I, whether the audience relates to this or feels this, this is me expressing to myself that I have the confidence to go there.
Let's not, let's not waste it with other meaningful people.
Let's push myself to like, I don't know, start connecting and let something deeper inside of me out.
I mean, look at the world now.
It's like, is anyone sitting here going, no?
I think it's fun.
Also, why didn't the FCC block this interview?
Why is this okay?
You must have done so much drugs at Burning Man.
if I'm honest, if I'm honest, yeah, but I would do them here, but everyone's such a square.
You got to go to the desert just to have some fun.
Well, I don't want to spoil any of of it, but I think it's well worth watching, and really, yeah, we're really, besides being very funny, quite beautiful, actually.
Rory Scovel, everybody.
Show must go on.
It is on Netflix now, and we'll be right back.
Netflix
