Translation

This baby bluejay flew straight onto this woman's deck and decided she was going to be his new mom.
This bird came out of nowhere.
It just swooped down with its mouth open, making these sounds, and with its wings flapping.
Came back.
Then Desiree took a closer look and realized he was just a baby.
I think he's hungry.
I mean, what are you supposed to do when a face like that asks you for food?
But Purdy wasn't exactly helping himself.
He wanted Desiree to feed him.
I don't have anything in my house to feed birds, right?
I mean, I'm just sitting here minding my own business, not expecting this to happen.
The only thing I could think of was cat food because we have cats.
Let me see if I can do this.
What Desiree thought would be a one-time meal became a daily routine.
Birdie came back several times a day, and when their first video went viral, there was a couple of veterinarians that reached out to me in my DMs.
They gave me some tips.
Desiree researched better food options, learned how to safely give him water, and even started feeding him with chopsticks.
But she was also careful not to interfere too much.
I went with the assumption that maybe he lost his parents and his mom, and which is why he was hungry and seeking out food from humans.
But he did learn over time.
He can bury by himself.
He's growing up.
He does start to eat on his own.
I saw him catching like grubs in the ground.
Little by little, Birdie began to grow up.
Look how he's laying.
Aww, come here.
He's just chilling like that.
I found that he was molting, which is a normal, you know, growing up behavior.
He was like a teenager already, and it had only been a couple of months.
Eventually, Birdie wasn't even coming back for food anymore.
He was just coming to see her.
He hanging out in my lap.
Or just became like, you know, like a friendship.
He even befriended Desiree's pigs.
Really?
Apparently, becoming part of the family meant the whole family.
As Birdie grew up, his visits became less frequent.
When I say Birdie, he knows my voice.
Oh, hi, Birdie.
I still see him in my trees.
He comes to visit.
He dropped a feather right in front of me.
It just like came floating down, you know, from the sky, basically, and I saved it because, you know, how they say like the feather is like your lost, you know, loved ones maybe coming to visit you.
I feel like maybe it was a message from them.
So this is the feather that I saved.
I just watch him from afar and appreciate the bond that we've shared.
