We held out and held out. We were so tired from holding out that we fell asleep. That's right. I woke up at 7 this morning, and last night
I've been thinking about this and that. I was thinking. There's no way there are hotels or campsites available for the three-day weekend
Right. There weren't any
Yes, so there was a project we'd left sleeping

Announcement
Here it is
I know this. Do you know it? These cards. National Highway Cards
550 yen. I saw this on the news. Well, when it comes to us, it's all about national highways. I see. Numerous
Cards with national highways from all over Japan written on them, randomly. Yeah
Uh, what are 76 plus secret
Officially, one unannounced card randomly
Wow. It might be in there. That's so great. Wait, have you never done trading cards? I really don't know. What's a trading card
Like Yu-Gi-Oh. I really have zero interest in that stuff. Kamago, like that. No, totally unrelated. Well
Anyway, these. Yes. Uh, these national highway cards come with 7 random cards for now. Is there somewhere you'd like to go
No, isn't it Route 1. Route 1, if possible
I don't want to go. Route 42
I have some pretty fun memories. Wow, amazing. You remember that much. Yes, it's along the sea, actually. Nice. Maeda. And Route 439 after all
We want to go again, right
Prediction
Okay. And Route 425 too
All things considered, we haven't completed it overall. Yeah, so it'd be fun if that works out well
Explaining the rules, or rather this project. Yes. Uh, for now 3 days
That's all we have. Right, the three-day weekend. So, this three-day weekend
We don't have any left. It's already 1 o'clock, but going to 7 places is pretty tough after all
We also have an event coming up. We could do 7
I think we could, but since we have an event coming up, this time
From these, please draw 2 cards
And you'll definitely have to drive those two. Is that okay? Totally fine. For now, draw one, and for now
Show it to us. The other one
Please look at it after you've driven the first one. Ah, put it back in the bag. Okay. And let's see where it is. Okay. Two nights, three days
Drive across Japan with the National Highway Gacha
I'd like to get started. Shall we go? Sounds good. Okay
Yes
はい
I opened it. I opened it. Let me see what's inside. For now, once
Ah, yes, inside. Right, right. For now, not looking at where, just what it looks like. Because how do you
Ah, I see
Ah, I see
Maybe I should put them in a bag or something and draw. Huh, trading cards usually have a pretty standard order. The rare should be at the back. Ah, I see. So like, draw
We need some kind of container. Yeah
Put them in a box once, and from there
It'd be better to make it like a lottery draw. Is this box okay? Put all the cards in here
Draw two cards from here, but you have to run them for sure. Okay. Alright, put them in, put them in. Okay
I'll keep the first one. Yeah. And, um
Have them draw two, have them look at one now, and put one straight back in this box. Yeah. Okay, I'll put them in. Yes. Okay? Yes
I'll shuffle them
Two cards. Two cards. Tell them to check one now. Yeah, that's right. So can I look at the first one for now? Sure
これ
This
Huh? I got one
Right off the bat
Where is it? From Nanao City, Ishikawa Prefecture
to Takaoka City, Toyama Prefecture
Amazing. On the very first one
And it's even the shortest distance. Got it
Huh, amazing. Rewaki... Okay
Next, for the second card, once you draw it put it right back. Ah, already
One might be missing
I forgot one
So for the next one, please quickly put the card in this here
When you're done
I put it in. Is this okay? Yes
For now this is the start
I'm saying. It's decent, but
Going all the way here from Osaka is really tough. Is it this close? No no no no, it's far
I mean. So with these three days, this paid leave, if it ends early you can relax
It's not paid leave anymore, but now it's all riding on one more card. Right. You'll see that after finishing this run
With all the viewers
I hope you'll enjoy it
Good thing we made it two cards
Of course. All of them would be absolutely impossible. It might be fun if we had a week. Yeah
Going to all of them would be fun too. Seven cards. True. As a trial run. So
This time. A little from third grade, third grade
If it's popular, have them buy another box. Yeah. Next Izumi-san should do it. True
When are we eating without...
Hold this for the thumbnail. Okay. To-to
Nice
National route tea trip
Um, the first start is this
This National Route 160 here
And it's even the rare one. I thought it was 45 kilos. It's 15 kilos. Compared to 870
It's way better. 870 is F, right? Have a nice holiday with this. Thank you. And bring back souvenirs. Like
What should I do about lodging? They say you can't get accommodations. Third grade is
Since we can't get lodging, we can't film a family video this time. Then let's just laze around
That's how it was
Let me laze around. No, can't get lodging. Sleeping in the car. Yes, it's already lunch time
What is this? This is mochi-filled okowa rice
Seriously
マジで
Seriously
Here. It's like onigiri good enough to make you drool. As expected, you know, that
Once we depart for that, meals become irregular, so eating out is really kind of hard to justify
Kind
Showing a strange kind of kindness. Huh?
Whoa, you're really good. Good? Cunning? Glad. Somehow exceeding. That level? Amazing. Amazing
Can you eat that?
That's quite a different dad in terms of laws and ordinances
No, this is solid. Nutrition
ある
I don't know if it has
it or not, but
Please eat it. Ah, I brought it in. Get some energy and please go carefully
Yes. Yes, so, the current time is 4:09 PM
Before you know it, it's 4 PM
We've arrived at the Kusatsu Parking Area in Shiga Prefecture
I say arrived, or rather, it might be more accurate to say we're starting from here
to avoid any misunderstanding
National Route
No. 160. It connects Nanao City in Ishikawa Prefecture to Takaoka City in Toyama Prefecture, a national highway with
Nanao City in Ishikawa Prefecture to Takaoka City in Toyama Prefecture
a total length of 45.3 kilometers
and although the distance is short, first of all
Getting to Nanao City in Ishikawa Prefecture
is very far
that's how it is
Since this is a journey to conquer national routes
basically I want to drive during the daytime, so this time
first we'll go to Nanao City in Ishikawa Prefecture and
stay one night
and the next day drive National Route 160
and then draw the next card. So we could have started from the Toyama side or the Ishikawa side, but
and then
it would have been fine to start from either the Toyama side or the Ishikawa side, but
well, since the starting point is Nanao City in Ishikawa, for now we'll start from the starting point
The next card has been taped shut with cellophane tape like this
これで
With this
so it won't come out
I'll open this when we reach the end point. These cards are really well made
the rare cards properly have a shiny
hologram-like finish
and they look so collectible
And of course, there are national routes I've driven before and ones I haven't
included, so these cards give me a chance to drive new national routes,
but they're also cards that make me drive routes I didn't need to drive. Anyway, shall we get going?
You lose track of which is the main part. The journey there is clearly longer if you film it. This route is only 45 kilometers. The journey there is over 300 kilometers
So it's gotten completely dark and the time is 6:38 PM
We've arrived in Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture
Here, at Kanazawa-Higashi
we'll get off for now and switch to the Kanazawa Bypass, and from there we still have about another hour
to go further north, so
なんか
well
It's harder than you think,
it's tougher than I thought, with this gap completely missing,
there's no sense of a great adventure at all anymore
This is painful
The dilemma is that if I show the great adventure from before, tomorrow's national route card will be overshadowed
is what I'm dealing with
Hey, there are so many fishing parks
マジ
Seriously
Huh. They're camping
Come on. No, seriously
That's a bit too many
Let's look again. Here
looking for
redoing it here is pretty tough though
あ
Ah
We've arrived
What time is it now? It took quite a while
9:44 PM. It was pretty far
And is that because we stopped at a hot spring? No, I didn't go in. I didn't take a bath
Tonight's dinner
Prosciutto. No way. Where did you buy it? At a supermarket in Toyama? At Alpla
they were selling it
This is a different story now. It's like a fish shop corner, made by that local
that fish shop
made this sushi
roughly
or rather, I'm already ready for bed
I'll eat and go to sleep
I'm curious about that drink
This is especially since coming to Japan
It's non-alcoholic. In the first place, from there
left or right, I wonder if one side makes you happier. If you ask where I'd be happiest, it's definitely near Osaka
The Kansai area. Yeah
But if I had to say
I feel like anywhere except Kyushu would be okay
right. Yeah. I see
so places like Niigata are totally fine
If Niigata is okay, then probably Fukushima and
that side too, I think I could barely manage the Kanto area
You mean even Tokyo is okay? Even Tokyo still
there's still hope
But if it's really Kyushu, I'll be devastated
Anyway, yeah. I'll pray to God. For the next national route to please be somewhere close
No, just draw it already. It won't change now. Good morning
ええ
Yeah
It's 7:14. Wow
I woke up feeling good today. Nanao City, Ishikawa Prefecture
What, what, what bridge is this
It's the Notojima Bridge
Beautiful
This side here is kind of
under construction or something
I can't get in, but
it's still beautiful
Day 2 of the National Route Gacha Trip. Driving National Route 160, so if you go about ten minutes from here there's Wakura Onsen, so I'll take a morning bath there and then
head toward Nanao City to start. Well, it's 7 o'clock
I woke up with plenty of time to spare today
So, departing at 7:38. From here it's 5 minutes to Wakura Onsen
we'll arrive at
we'll arrive at
I don't know where I'll end up today, but no matter where I end up, staying one more night is already decided, so actually
とか
or anything like that
I didn't even need to tidy up the sleeping bag or anything, but still, a messy car means a messy mind, so
for now
I reset everything first, and then
drive comfortably through today, and
depending on where I end up, I might sleep in the car again, something like that
This is my onsen bag
you know. The one Izu-san came up with
for situations like this, you put in some underwear and
あと
also
a few bath essentials
it's designed with the idea of taking it to the onsen
It's 8:24 AM and I just got out of the Wakura Onsen Sotoyu public bath, and of course the facility itself is nice, but
for yen
I thought that onsen with that level of facilities is amazing
There's a sauna and an open-air bath too
and a pot bath
At first glance, on the way here to this Sotoyu, it looked like reconstruction was progressing, but
beyond this Sotoyu, right now just
you can see
とかが
or things like that
the area beyond where those are, it's really like they're just about to demolish it now
the buildings are wrapped in scaffolding
So, National Route 159, Nanao City
this intersection, the Kawaramachi Intersection, this is
the starting point
I'll start by thoroughly walking around the starting point
That's what I thought. On the top part of this card, this red dot, I've finally made it to the starting point, to the start. Going straight from here leads toward Wajima on National Route 249, and

It's quite rare to have a national route that's only about forty or fifty kilometers, so it feels pretty rare
When you think of national routes, you'd expect them to be fairly long
I thought there were short national routes like this, but I've heard there are even shorter ones

There was a really short national route, and this might be on the longer side among the short ones? This is the intersection here

This is the road from Nanao in Ishikawa Prefecture to the Toyama Bay side. I see. Once you get through here, it's all ditches. Anyway, it's only 45 kilometers

In my past journeys traveling all the national routes
I started with the first-class national routes, the longer ones first
Not exactly in order, but prioritizing the longer ones
And then I also picked the terrible-road sections of national routes
and drove those, but routes that are under this distance

and aren't even rough roads, under __ kilometers

It's kind of like leaving it to chance, like an omakase set meal. I came all the way up the west side of the Noto Peninsula

all the way to Nanao, but
on the east side, the Notetsu Expressway fully opened in 2015, so it's definitely faster to take that expressway to Himi
or toward Toyama, to get through quickly, but when you see the sea like this, it's amazing

Well, it was a bit rushed, but usually for this national route conquering trip, I research the highlights and
points of interest to some extent before setting out. The worst thing is to go out knowing nothing,

Right now,
I thought about work too. As you get older, it'll end up being a side parting. That's a bit far ahead. No no. So what if we try bringing the front forward once. Ah, no thanks. Yeah.
It'd obviously look weird. No need to even try. You must be tired. Super tough. Right?
This might be the peak right now. Because you didn't say anything until recently. Everyone goes home by bike after coming back.
I should have taken a bath and stayed two nights. Yeah.
National routes usually have some kind of topic, and I go with that as the goal. Like going because there's such a terrible road. But
when it's random, there are quite a lot of normal roads too.
What do you mean. Ah, it's not bad, not bad at all. Certainly until now there was always some label like the longest or
the worst or Osaka-Tokyo, but yeah.
If anything, just normal roads. Roads that everyone uses in daily life.
Yeah, exactly. Roads
and such. Yeah, that's interesting in its own way. And there's a chance we're passing right in front of a viewer's house. Right. If so, tell me before we start, don't just drive by casually.
No, I didn't think it was that kind of road. Completely a mountain road.
I just assumed we'd be driving on a mountain road nobody would use. It's not like that at all. So, souvenirs. Yes.

It's totally different after all. I bought it at the supermarket but it's totally different
Too sweet. So much it hits you. Peaceful
Here it is. Love it. Shine Muscat from Okayama Prefecture. Cheap. And this. The one bought at the roadside station was expensive. Really
これは
This is
I ate a little on the way back
Oh, so there was one in a pack, it said 500 yen. It's huge. It was really delicious. Tasty. Tasty
What happened to the one you ate. Sweet
Too sweet. Pear
I was told to buy
So. Huh? This is that, right
like it's cheap
Huge. This one's huge. 750 yen for one. Expensive
Shall I peel it
I'm peeling it. It's been cut a bit and peeled quickly so
Let's eat. Yeah
Uke, Moja likes it. Good. Delicious, it's delicious. Um
It tastes like pear juice. Yeah
And if it's police-crisp, anything is fine
That's right. Tasty. Sweet. The sweetness is strong. So next is
what kind of national route trip there will be. This is troubling. No
maybe there'll be a sequel. Ah, depending on how popular this is. Right
I want to go alternately again. I want to go alternately again, so. It was a nice three-day weekend. Good work
Next is definitely seven sheets
I want to go. Yeah, we have to think about the route a bit. Isn't there some good way
そう
Yeah
Yeah. Really watched it all at once, and
lining them up and going in order
I think would be best
That's the best, right. Yeah. That way there are lots, random, you know. Right, right, right. If we do it that way it seems doable. Seems doable
Yeah, just go from top to bottom, from Hokkaido in order. Yeah, starting with Hokkaido at the top and ending with
Kagoshima, then first take the ferry to Aomori. Yeah. And then just go down. That's it
It's better to go the seven sheets in reverse
Seven sheets, opening is the climax. Yeah. That's fine, that's fine in its own way. Because there's no such thing as just the climax, like I've seen all these cards. I won't watch anymore
I wonder if we can really drive it. Ah, I see
A pattern bringing the ending first. That's better. Yeah. But around here is from the ending
That's how it was
