また
Again,
I wonder how Shibasaki will do it now, I'm a little bit
Looking forward to it.
はい
Yes.

Well then,
Art critique
Let's go! Yes, yes, well then,
Let's take a look. Uh, is the bird good?
これだ
This is it.
はい
Yes.
Uh, Yuki-san from Toyama, right? Uh, 'Early Birch Trees and House,' well, they've given it a good review. This is, you know,
About this painting,
これですね
This is it.

You know,

gave out, you know, giving out themes once a month and they were writing/drawing, but now
Let's draw a painting with birch trees as the theme.
They applied for that, didn't they?
はい
Yes.
And the material submitted is this.
うん
Hmm.
I see.
そうね
That's right.
It's well done, isn't it?
The colors were also drawn so well.
うん
Hmm
まあ
Well
It seems to be drawn with a mane, doesn't it?
What was drawn with a mane is probably the height of these lines of the birch tree, their extension.
I think I wanted to draw that.
So, I thought I should draw with a birch tree as the theme.
こと
idea
of the ground's
Is the horizon line a little bit higher up?
Lower this more.
More of the birch tree's height.
So, it's better to emphasize the presence of the birch tree.
Well, it feels like it would be good, right?
How can I draw such a top line?
Um, since it's a redraw.
That's right.
And now, like this.
Well, the horizon line is around here, but...
This, you see.
こう
like this
I lowered it more, you see.
Lowering it.
like a drop, you know.
If you draw it.
The height of this tree, you see.
I feel like it can be emphasized more like this.
Um, about that, you know, one more thing...
The screen/canvas, you see.
こっち
this way
If you slightly crop this side, crop it like this, and then if you can make a birch tree...
One more, like this.
And increase them like this, you see.
If you draw it that way.
Of course, the birch tree will enter the screen/canvas like this, won't it?
If you make it two, the presence of the birch tree will be strengthened.
Birch tree as the theme.
というような
such as
I just thought it might become a painting like that.
I'd like to try it in that direction a little.
Well then, let's try drawing it, shall we?
えっと
Um
a little like this
I'll lower the horizon line, okay?
And push the background a little to the right.
The birch tree, you see, the important birch tree, a little to the center of the screen.
I'd like to place it.
And also, I'll draw one more, you see.
I will further emphasize the birch tree.
でここが
And here is...
Well, this is the background, so I'll make this part a bit wider.
Yes, various elements will come in.
There's a tree standing here.
There's a road here, isn't there?
Quite good.
This is good material, isn't it?
And since I drew this part wide,
I'll draw a mountain a little in the distance.
Yes, and then bamboo.
の

木き
tree
I'd like to make the whole area here feel misty/foggy like this.
Once again.
And one important thing about painting this picture is what kind of atmosphere to create.
Already with a common feeling and
Today, it's a bit misty/foggy.
atmosphere
ですね
right?
And I'd like to try painting. Now, about this Shirakawa area.
と
And
To make it white, you see,
I'll try applying this masking fluid.
Well, this transparent watercolor on this paper
drawing by utilizing the white of the paper
is very important, but
Well, it's quite difficult to leave clear and thin shapes like that untouched.
And what's useful in such times is
this thing called masking fluid.
はい
Yes.
I should draw this too.
I'll make a few Shirakawa (white streams).
はい
Yes.
で
And
Well, I always write comments on this, but today
I'll draw on these four, filling the paper.
はい
Yes.
right? And
I'd like to try applying a mist/fog to the whole thing.
はい
Yes.
That's how to create the atmosphere, isn't it?
Yes, that area a bit.
Please take a look at that area.
So, I'd like to try processing the mountain area and the forest in the middle ground while they are vaguely wet.
So, I'll draw now.
はい
Yes.
Since it's a painting with mist/fog, it's wet-in-wet, isn't it?
I'd like to try painting it all at once before it dries.
まあ
Well,
This kind of expression is indeed an important charm of transparent watercolor.
はい
Yes.
of this painting
the way it's presented, you see.
Well, this time,
So, you see, a little earlier, at the top edge of the screen,
I brought it, and also increased the number of them.
And at the same time, what kind of situation this Shirakawa is in now,
という
that is,
Well, that's it, you see.
ですので
Therefore,
Well, the material is very good material, you see, and also,
The person who drew this picture also drew it very well, but already,
It's the atmosphere of Bonshu, isn't it?
And within that, furthermore,
like this, a little
It's cold, isn't it?
when the mist is thick
up to that point, like this,
I want to convey that image, you see.
Now, the distant mountains are getting misty.
Next are the trees in the middle ground.
Here, it's a little darker than the distant mountains, but still blurry, you see.
です
it is.
Well, this is how watercolor is,
You know, as I always say, wet-in-wet is truly enjoyable in watercolor.
まあ
Well,
It's something I'm glad I drew, something I've done.
Yes, I'll paint while controlling the water.
When, how, and what concentration of paint to apply,
that's the point, you see.
Now, since I've come to the lower part,
this is again the foreground, but
even darker, you see.
But since it's already Bonshu, the colors are significantly subdued, aren't they?
Well, around here too,
あのね
you know,
this withered part is very skillfully
I think it's being handled.
Yes, with wet-on-wet,
I'll paint. Oh, it's gone a bit.
Well, these kinds of accidents are also fun, you see.
はい
Yes.
It's dry.
I'll paint while observing the rainbow colors and consulting with the water.
It's dry, isn't it?
はい
Yes.
And this circle here, you see.
Since there's a bit of a fall, an important fall, I'll also pay a little attention to the area around this chimney and make it darker.
And again, the color with the atmosphere of Bonshu here, you see.
はい
Yes.
That's right, I'll keep adding colors quickly to the areas that aren't dry.
It's dry, isn't it?
At this time, as expected,
Watercolor is really important, isn't it?
As expected,
It means using dark colors all at once, doesn't it?
はい
Yes.
Especially now,
It feels like a winter with all plants withered, doesn't it?
I think dark colors are very important.
Subtly,
にこう
like this,
ね
you know,
the texture of the brush,
while devising,
gently blurring the colors,
creating the atmosphere of trees. The person who painted this time, you know,
is really good at color mixing. I think they can also create a good atmosphere for the leaves in places like this.
はい
Yes.
By tapping the brush a bit, you know,
I'll draw the leaves. Let's have Shibasaki also extend and draw them.
Let's apply colors one after another, shall we?
What I painted earlier was wet-on-wet,
but this time I'm painting with a dry brush feel.
So, with watercolor, whether you paint with plenty of water,
or conversely, with less water, creating a rough texture,
that kind of distinction in painting is also important, isn't it?
Yes. Now, it's dry. Let's make it flat first.
It's like this, isn't it?
To avoid going outside the shape a bit,
I'll paint a bit carefully, okay?
As for the grass of natural trees,
conversely, drawing it freely in one go,
or for fixed shapes, drawing them a bit carefully, making such distinctions in painting would be good, I think.
はい
Yes.
はい
Yes.
It seems like around here,
when I look at the reference material, firewood seems to be stacked,
I can see it. For winter preparation,
you know, a lot of firewood,
they must be preparing, I guess.
Yes. It's circular.
Well, the whole thing also has a slightly blurred feel, doesn't it?
And now, the foreground.
Here, I'll express it largely with clear colors.
と
And,
the touch,
it's like painting while placing it down.
はい
Yes.
I'm painting it in a dry brush style. Now, let's layer colors from the foreground. It's like,
around here.
に
to
Since it also has a shape-like feel, let's leave that part and draw it, shall we?
It's around here, isn't it?
はい
Yes
Gently
はい
Yes
It's also fun to leave these paper-like highlights once you find them.
Yes. We'll add colors one after another to create variations.
As expected, the color changes as it comes closer to the foreground.
And how to create depth for this
Well, it's important for a painting.
Moreover, since it's winter desolation, the colors are subdued overall, aren't they?
So, this kind of
color creation
ですね
it is, isn't it?
This color creation is very important in terms of seasonality or the overall harmony of colors in the painting.
But even in that respect, it's really like this
they are scattered, aren't they?
I think so.
Yes. Let's move on to the foreground one after another.
A sudden, complete burst
Strong colors, aren't they?
この
This
with a transparent watercolor brush, you know
placing a dark color with a 'pop' or a vivid color with a 'pop', you know
I imagine it takes courage to do that
Well, if you try doing that, the painting becomes very fresh.
This relationship of dark tones, isn't it?
Because I applied it broadly
with a slightly finer brush touch
Well, it's like creating a detailed atmosphere, isn't it?
Also, dry brush.
ね
right?
Yes, it creates the atmosphere of trees or the withered grass around here.
But you know, Dogo-sha, this is very well done, isn't it?
Once it dries, a little mist
let's spray and add water.
Trees are standing straight up around here, aren't they?
I'll draw that part.
はい
Yes
It's around here, isn't it?
It must be a conifer, right?
The branching pattern
I'll observe it and draw, making use of the brushstrokes.
When autumn comes, you know
of these conifers and broadleaf trees that weren't clear in summer
この
this
characteristics of the trees, aren't they?
It could be the color of the leaves
or the tree shape, you know, that becomes clearly visible.
It's enjoyable, isn't it?
Well, these colors are heavy, dark, and strong, aren't they?
Now, so that this birch tree will eventually stand out,
as preparation, dark
trees and such,
I'm painting the dark withered grass there.
This is dry brushing all the way.
Yes, and broadly,
I'll apply paint.
If you draw everything in detail,
the painting will end up looking a bit incomplete.
So, areas that are quite detailed,
and large blocks of color,
で
with,
I think it's better to have such areas to paint.
It's about what parts you want to emphasize.
はい
Yes.
こんな
Like this,
way, you see.
Gradually, like this,
including the sense of perspective,
of this late autumn,
I think that sense of the season has also started to appear.
Now, let's draw the important ground a little.
Yes, I'll carefully draw the shape here.
Is this about right?
ここに
Here,
ね
you see.
こう
Like this.
Probably like this,
I'm sure there's some firewood or something stacked there, creating an atmosphere, right? Let's draw a dark line there.
はい
Yes.
I'll draw with white.
Is this it? Hmm.
で
And,
こっち
this side,
this small mound is here,
it extends out to.
Like this, you see. It feels like the slope continues beyond this Shirakawa (white river/birch river).
はい
Yes.
How about this?
And I think this part is all rolled up, you know.
Let's add some color.
はい
Yes.
Cylinder.
In this way, this
はい
Yes.
is the ridge part, isn't it?
Yes. I'll create a slightly unusual shape.
With such lines, you see.
Let's draw a little.
はい
Yes.
Strong.
I'll take a little color from the areas that were too much.
We need a bit of an airy feel too, don't we?
はい
Yes.
さあね
Well, you know.
This is where our accumulated things are.
Things like this, there's no grass around our house, so...
Well, I just draw based on imagination, images, and reference materials. But on the other hand, it's fun.
