Smooth, flexible. Wow, amazing
The manhole gap. It went over it so smoothly
Hello, this is Sato Jimax. Today I'm at Harley-Davidson Minami-Osaka Highside
I've come here. At this shop called Highside
I heard that the Harley-Davidsons tuned here have incredibly good rear suspension movement
This blue one
Is more or less stock, in an untuned Harley-Davidson state, with the rear suspension movement somewhat improved
It feels like this
Well, it's not that it doesn't move at all
And the black machine in the back, this one
Well, it's been tuned
It's a test ride bike
Ah, the movement is totally
Totally different, like
Soft
They didn't actually change the suspension or anything
They just adjusted it
So that it moves properly, so that this suspension's performance
So that the performance it originally has can be fully demonstrated, they tuned it
This Harley-Davidson Minami-Osaka Highside, you know, quite
I heard earlier that it's a very unique shop
Originally, they handled and apparently built Buell racers
That's what kind of shop it was
So they seem to have the technical expertise for tuning and parts development
Well, they're confident in their technical skills
So that's why they can do this kind of tuning. Let's compare and ride them
よし
Alright
Let's go. Thump, thump, thump
Okay, I'll go through some narrow spots
I do feel a fair amount of rattling
But well, it's not like the rear suspension isn't moving at all
うん
Yeah
If you told me this is just how it is, I'd probably think, yeah, I guess that's how it is
That's the impression
Well, this stock factory condition is the baseline
I'll think about things from here
And later
I'll ride the tuned one and judge, that's the plan
Wow, but this torque is amazing. Actually, this is my first time riding an air-cooled Harley
So right now I'm
I'm actually impressed by this. Like, ah
Wow, it has this much torque, amazing
Ah, well, well, well, going over some gaps. See, see, bumpy
Well, I guess this is about normal
Maybe if you go a bit faster over gaps, it feels like it might go boing and
Bounce like that, it's a bit stiff like that
Wow, amazing torque
It's so torquey
So this is Harley-Davidson
Wow, amazing
It's stopped now and I'm bouncing on the seat like this, but
the suspension barely moves
It's a bit stiff
Well, maybe it's also because I don't weigh that much
The front is still relatively, you know
It's got inverted forks, but
I think they're supple
Left turn at the light, here we go
Wow, amazing
Such a low center of gravity. And this torque
Ah, so this is Harley-Davidson
いいな
Nice
Yeah, air-cooled is amazing after all
Such a low center of gravity
That roughness
There's so much pulsing feel
Okay, we're back, we're back. Well, it's just a quick lap, really
The question is whether you can tell the difference in one lap
No, it's the same
はい
Yes
I've ridden it
Turning
I'll take the same route as before, but
Oh, this is totally different already
You can tell over just a small bump
This is, wow, amazing
It's amazing
I get it, I get it, it's completely different
Yeah, so even the rear's sense of contact with the ground feels different. Wow, amazing, amazing
The feel over these manhole bumps around here is totally different
Smooth, supple
Wow, this
This is amazing. It's completely different
It's so supple
So that's why it feels like the rear grip has increased
Yeah, yeah
It's different
But these are the stock suspensions. Only using
the same parts as the factory condition from before
It's all in the tuning, the tuning
It's Highside's technical skill
Their mechanic skill
And it can change this much
That's what it means that it can be made like this
わあ
How about it? Wow
Amazing
That manhole bump that went thud before, it just rode over it so smoothly
That's incredible
Totally different. This is good
This is, you know, a really, really good thing
How is it? It's become easier to ride, right?
ああ
Yeah
いいな
Nice
From what I hear, it's a really interesting shop. The shop didn't originally start out saying let's do Harleys
Originally, that Honda Blackbird XX, that
they were apparently the shop that sold the most of them in Japan
And after various things, Buell's
machines are so interesting, so
they did things like building Buell racers and such
And after many twists and turns, they apparently came to handle Harley-Davidson
I mean, the know-how from technical development and parts development for racing and high-performance machines, well, in the racing field
it seems they've done a lot of that
And it's tuning that can only be done because they have that technical skill and development capability
And
で
The idea is that a Harley-Davidson is of course a good bike, but it can get even better
With that technical expertise, to make this motorcycle called Harley-Davidson more fun
To be able to enjoy more and more of what makes a motorcycle fun, like stopping, turning, and running, that's why they did this kind of tuning
That's what I heard
Yeah, this really moves completely differently. Are these really the same parts?
Ah, but with this I'd want to go long distance. Just like this, in this style
It makes me want to go far away in one go. Ah, this makes me want to go to Awaji Island
I wonder if I should ask if they can lend me this too
That was my first time riding that Kure Harley, so there's that excitement too, but
It's totally different
You can tell even over this short distance
Look, now sitting here, bouncing, bouncing, bouncing. I'm
bouncing on the seat, but
it's moving really flexibly
Yeah, so because it moves this flexibly, I feel like the rear grip feeling has increased a lot
I want to go try it on winding roads
It might be super fun
Yes, I'm back
Alright, alright, alright, alright
So this time, a ride comparison between this stock, factory-condition Harley-Davidson and a Harley-Davidson with the rear suspension swingarm
adjusted
We tried it out. We got the opportunity to test ride from Harley-Davidson Minami-Osaka
