Hey, so I...
Hello there, I'm Tomoran
On this channel, I buy running shoes with my own money and review them with no bias
What I'll introduce this time is Nike's

As you can tell from the name, these are shoes for trail running, a waterproof model with a GORE-TEX upper
Why did I, someone who normally only runs on roads and cross-country, buy such serious trail running shoes
This can only be described as romance

So let's take a look at the main features right away
has a 2-layer structure
The upper layer uses lightweight, highly cushioned ZoomX foam
The lower layer uses Cushlon 3.0 foam

The upper uses waterproof-breathable GORE-TEX to block water from getting in from outside and keep your feet dry
The collar uses a stretchy material that wraps snugly around the ankle with no gaps. This is to prevent pebbles and dirt from getting in on the trail. The ankle pads are

hard to see from the outside, but they have quite a bit of thickness and softness, and hold the ankle firmly

Next, let's look at the sizing
These are the results of having my feet 3D-measured at another directly-managed store the other day

26cm in regular types and 25.5cm in wide types is my just-right size. By the way, I weigh 60 kilos. Oh, but after trying them on it'll be 61 kilos

I guess. When choosing trail shoes, it's usually recommended to go half a size up from normal

However, the Zegama Trail GORE-TEX is originally
designed with room in the toe, as also written on the official page, so this time I ordered 26cm online
When I actually put my feet in
The forefoot width is just right. However, since it's designed long in length, there was about 3 cm of room at the toe tip
For trail running, your feet slide a bit forward when going downhill, so it's better to have a little extra room
I actually ran on the road and didn't feel anything strange in particular
Now, let me quickly summarize my first impressions
First, what surprised me was the softness of the cushioning. Most of the trail running shoes I've worn have had a firm midsole, but this one has a soft landing and the midsole
sinks in deeply
The ZoomX foam used in the upper layer is soft. The Zoom Fly 6 I
own uses the same material, and indeed the Zoom Fly also
had cushioning that emphasized softness
However, the lower
The foam in the lower layer has decent rigidity, and by firmly supporting the ZoomX foam, there's no overall mushy feeling
For the fit, I also expected an overall firm, locked-in feel, but it's characterized by a soft, snug fit that conforms to the shape of the foot
It was a bit surprising that the Gore-Tex material is thin and soft
It has thickness and a soft feel. The ankle cuff further enhances that plush sensation
As an aside, the Pegasus Trail 5 Gore-Tex I used to wear also had a cuff around the ankle, but unfortunately the ankle pad hold felt weak and unreliable
In that respect, with the Zegama Trail Gore-Tex I have no worries about the hold
at all
As for running performance, it has very high stability. The forefoot
area spreads out wide to the sides, increasing the contact area, and your toes naturally splay as well
On trails, you often run on off-road surfaces like gravel roads and grass, rocky rugged terrain, and mud, so the more uneven the ground, the more this shoe's stability shines
はペース
It is a model suited for running long and ultra distances rather than a pace
or speed-focused model, so it's not suited for high-pace running, but it can be used on roads as a stable jogging shoe
As for grip performance, I have no complaints. It doesn't slip at all even on the gravel road I always run on
It firmly grabs the ground even on bumpy grass
And it's nice that it doesn't slip easily even on steep slopes. It looks usable for hiking too
I haven't tried it running on a rainy day yet, but when I tried pouring water on it, it repelled the water nicely
Even if you splash water like this, just shake your foot and the water droplets scatter right off
However, the tongue area is not completely sealed, so when water is poured directly from above, water gets in through the gaps in the tongue and the inside of the shoe got a little wet
I wonder how it will be on a rainy day. I'll update in another video later
For reference, let me introduce the waterproof running shoes I own. This is On's Cloudsurfer Trail Waterproof. A model that customizes the very excellent Cloudsurfer

trail
as a waterproof model. I mainly use it for running on rainy and snowy days
The obvious benefit of waterproof running shoes is that they don't get wet easily even when running on rainy days, and keep your feet dry even when running on wet ground
Actually, another lesser-known benefit is that they keep your feet warm even when running in the cold winter
Many recent running shoes emphasize lightness and breathability, so when you wear them in winter, cold air gets in and your feet get cold
Waterproof versions block water and air from getting in and prevent heat from escaping, so they're warm. I find them useful not only for midwinter running but also for commuting
When I buy waterproof running shoes, I always choose an all-black
color assuming I'll wear them to work as well
However, even all-black varies — some are close to gray, or combine blacks with different brightness
It's hard to find shoes that are truly pitch black and sharply tighten up your feet
There have been many times in the past when it looked pitch black in online shopping photos but was disappointing when I held the actual product
The Zegama Trail Gore-Tex I bought this time is very close to a single black
color, and personally I'm satisfied with the coloring
Everyone has their own criteria for choosing running shoes, and each shoe is different, but the reason I chose the Zegama Trail GORE-TEX in my case is
romance
Even though these are serious trail running shoes, I have no plans to use them in the mountains, and I bought them because I was drawn to their cool design, high specs, and waterproof performance
Well, having a pair of shoes like this that embodies that kind of romance makes you look forward to running on rainy days or cold winter days, so I actually recommend it
Actually, I've ordered another pair of waterproof running shoes that I've been interested in for a while, so I'd like to review those at a later date as well
Yes, so this time it was Nike's
