Welcome back to a new video, everyone.
I'm with my brother today, and we will be teaching you English through comprehensible input and also the fabric they use.
It looks once online retail took off, they just died off.
Lays gourmet, perfect level of sweetness and firmness.
These right here are storage lockers where you can store.
They swabbed our bags.
Go through customs here at the.
I called them like supervisors, like even though I know it's like mass produced, it still feels like.
So it's a red eye flight.
A red eye flight.
We're gonna go into this mall and buy some final souvenirs, right?
Yeah.
うん。
What do you want to buy here?
If I can find a nice T-shirt that says China or has a Chinese flag on it, then I'm gonna buy that.
Other than that, not much.
I want to get an I Heart Beijing T-shirt, and I also want to get some more silk bandanas.
And I think that's it.
So we'll go into this mall first, try to find what we want, and then we'll go eat after.
So let's head into the mall.
So right now we are walking towards the entrance of the mall.
The mall is called Silk Street, and I'm sure you can guess by the name they sell silk here.
On my right hand side, you can see three flags waving in the wind.
In the distance, there you can see high-rise buildings.
Beijing is a mega city, a metropolis, so buildings like this are quite normal.
Let's go in now.
All these stores here are really nice.
I like the design of the dresses here and also the fabric they use.
It looks more like traditionally inspired.
That looks comfortable.
It looks expensive and high quality.
Okay, so this is what we're having for lunch.
That's cooked-out chicken.
We each have a bowl of rice as well, and a small plate with chopsticks.
And on the side, we have a white and blue cup.
Okay, this is the second dish.
It's grilled squid.
Hopefully, it's not too spicy because it looks very, very spicy.
I'll tell you right now, not spicy.
Okay, that's good.
I guess it's just for flavor.
This is the last thing we ordered: pork and scallion dumplings.
So now we have all our food here.
These are really hot too.
Yeah, they're steaming.
They're steaming a lot, and they have soy sauce on the side there.
So yeah, this is what we're having for lunch.
So we finished all our food here.
This is just like spices over there.
There just a couple peanuts, but the dumplings were good, and we finished all that.
Now we're gonna head over to a grocery store.
Yeah.
うん。
Hema.
What do you need to buy?
Some chips and gummies and a tofu snack.
Ooh.
おお。
So let's get up, get some bikes, and go.
Pretty much, Leon just asked why there are so many dead malls like this one in Beijing.
Yeah, because that's a mall right there too.
So, like, that's not even a block away.
Yeah, and I guess it's because too many were built too close together.
So yeah, during the construction boom in the '80s or '90s, they just built and built and built.
And once online retail took off, they just died off because nobody was.
Yeah, no one was going to malls as much, which makes sense.
And also, if you put a mall in a bad location or right beside another mall, one of them is going to suffer.
Yeah, you know, or if they're not unique and they're just a boring mall, who's going to go there?
Us.
Exactly.
Let's go in.
Open sesame.
Good boy.
Oh my gosh!
Nice in here.
there's like one person in here.
It's honestly a nice mall.
It feels like dated though.
This is like look at how empty it is.
Not even all the lights are on.
The material choice, the colors, feels like an early 2000s mall.
Like this feels like West Edmonton Mall.
Yeah, like older mall.
It feels like West Edmonton Mall, which is I think Canada's biggest mall, and it's like very close to where we live, so we visited that a lot.
You see, not even the escalators are working.
It's just empty.
We found the grocery store.
Yo, do you need a shopping cart?
Oh yeah, I just got one.
Bro, those are just for kids.
Get out of here.
Let's go.
You don't need that much stuff, right?
Yes, not.
Oh, that's full.
It's full already.
So I think this is Bird's Nest, and these are all like medicinal foods.
I'm not sure what that is.
Three thousand yuan.
Damn.
That's six hundred dollars.
This is the inside of the grocery store.
This is a nice-looking grocery store.
It looks very clean, modern, and sleek.
Feels premium.
it does.
Okay, so we're now in the chips aisle.
We've got a couple things here, a couple snacks, some chips.
But I've never seen these.
Blaze Borme.
They kind of look crunchier.
They kind of look a little bit like Miss Vicky's.
But I haven't seen that.
But one I do want to try are these.
Wait, it feels like they're individually packaged.
Really?
That or there's just this is just a bag.
No, they're not chips.
They're like fry shape.
Yeah, I think they're individually packaged.
They kind of feel like that when I squeeze them.
Wonder what other flavors?
Avocado.
You.
Cucumber.
You.
I think we got all the good flavors.
Maybe seaweed.
Roasted seaweed flavor.
I don't know.
I guess the packaging looks cool.
Fish and chips flavor.
Oh.
Yeah, it's just that I think these bags will pop in the airplane, so it's better to get the Pringles can.
Okay, let's go check out in our mini cart.
This is a regular size cart.
I think that's the normal size, but that's pretty small too.
That's seafood, but we could have got that seafood platter for eighty-eight yuan or these for even cheaper.
Yeah, I'll be the first to admit that that was not the best meal we had here.
It wasn't bad either, but here you can buy skewers.
Here they have some steaks.
Now we're entering the area we came in through.
This looks like premium meat.
It's from Bhutan.
What is it?
It's like a fungus.
No, it's a caterpillar that was dried, and it's super expensive.
Like this whole, this only a few grams, five grams, thousand yuan, and it only comes from Bhutan.
This is like the medicine area and also the tea area.
If you want to buy jasmine tea.
Okay, so this is everything we got.
It came out to ninety-six yuan, and now we'll pay.
Give me AliPay.
And now we'll have a shadowing practice right here.

Here we are using a self-checkout machine after finishing our grocery shopping in China.
Instead of giving our items to a cashier, we scan each product ourselves.
The screen guides us through the process while the machine records the price of every item and calculates the total cost.
After scanning everything, we choose a payment method and complete the transaction.
Once the payment is approved, the machine prints a long receipt showing the products we purchased, their individual prices, and the final amount we paid.
Keeping the receipt is useful in case we need to return an item or check whether we were charged correctly.
Plastic shopping bags are available beside the machine, and marked places on the table show customers where to place scanned and unscanned products.
These instructions help keep the checkout area organized and reduce confusion.
Self checkout machines can save time, especially when customers are buying only a few things.
However, they may feel confusing at first.
Once we understand the steps, the process becomes quick, convenient, and surprisingly simple.
Okay, so we have our snacks here that we bought.
Okay, so we bought some egg tarts for 16 yuan.
So we'll try them.
They look very flaky and delicious.
And then we bought some other stuff: some chips, dried tofu.
Oh, let's try these gummies also.
Oh, and watermelon.
Oh yeah, we have to eat that.
Okay, so we have the watermelon here.
It costs 6.90, which is like a dollar fifty Canadian, probably like a dollar US.
And the watermelon looks very good.
And it comes with these little skewers to eat them with.
Oh wow, it's that good.
It's like the perfect level of sweetness and firmness.
I don't like my watermelon squishy, but this one is perfect.
I'm good.
I'm I'm full.
Why would did you eat something?
Yeah, I had a lot of that food, and then I drank a lot of liquids too.
So more for me.
Yeah.
うん。
Mmm.
んー。
Mmm.
んー。
Mmm.
んー。
Last thing.
These look super good.
So let's try one of each.
The three flavors: strawberry, mango, cantaloupe, or melon.
Try a cantaloupe first.
Right now, I'm opening the package, or you could say I'm tearing open the package, or you can say wrapper.
This is what the inside looks like.
It's white and yellow.
That looks kind of good.
That's good.
Looks like starburst.
Yeah, almost like a hibiscus.
More like a hibiscus because starbursts aren't this chewy.
It's good.
Next, mango.
This one is orange and white.
That one is good.
That one is better.
Dude, they're so chewy.
My jaw is like working out.
I think you're supposed to like suck on them, and they're like so chewy.
Ooh, that one looks the best.
This one looks the best.
It's the best.
Good.
Strawberry, mango, cantaloupe.
We tried all the food.
Now let's go find somewhere else to sit because look at this.
We're sitting on this like very narrow ledge here.
Like my butt is only half on.
Okay, so we just rented these bikes.
I put my grocery bag in the basket, and we're now gonna head over to the Adidas store.
Did you buy anything in this mall?
Ah.
Just groceries.
So we just bought groceries because we don't really need anything else.
I also put my bandana on because my hair was getting messy.
We have about nine hours until our flight, right?
Pretty much.
Eight hours.
Eight nine hours.
We have to be there by ten o'clock.
That's three hours before our flight.
So about nine hours then.
Yeah.
うん。
So we have about nine hours.
We're gonna do a couple more things in the city and then head over to the airport.
Okay, guys.
So we're back in the station now and we're just picking up my backpack from these lockers.
These right here are storage lockers where you can store either your luggage or your backpacks or just a small handbag or crossbody bag.
But I have my backpack in here, so I'll take it out and then we'll go back to the hotel,
get our luggage, and then call a taxi to go straight to the airport because today we are flying out of Beijing back to Ho Chi Minh City at midnight.
So let's go.
Okay, guys.
We just got to the airport.
You can see.
see Leon is up there pushing the bags.
Our taxi just dropped us off here, and this airport is absolutely massive.
Like you can see how big it is.
Now we're gonna cross this and go inside the airport to check in.
We're at gate number three, international departures.
Okay, so we're now in the airport.
They swabbed our bags for drugs as we walked in, so I guess everyone gets swabbed before they're allowed in.
But now we're going to E.
E.
E。
Going to E because that's where our flight is leaving from.
The ceiling is very beautiful.
It feels like I'm in an opera house.
I doubt we're gonna be able to check our bags, but we're gonna go see if we can try.
Yeah, we probably cannot check in since we are very early, but we can try.
We can go up onto the second floor and wait there.
Yeah.
うん。
Yeah, we can definitely do that.
Okay, we're at the airport early, so we're just waiting near the check-in counter.
So we have to wait like two hours before we can actually check in, since we're here early.
Wow, which is kind of boring.
Okay, so we're now leaving Beijing.
We just checked in, left our suitcases with the service counter there,
and now we're gonna go through customs here at the international departures, Dubai, Beijing.
Okay, guys.
So we just got past security, customs, and immigration, and Leon got Leon got served.
I don't want to talk about.
We will talk about it once we get to our boarding gate.
For now, we're gonna use the washroom because we really need to use the washroom.
So we'll tell you Leon's story after.
I did not have any problem, but Leon had a lot.
What happened?
But we'll tell you after.
Okay, so we're now in the airport here.
Finished up in the washroom, washed our hands, and now we have to find our gate.
Leon's over there looking for the gate, but I believe our number is eighty-five, which is down there by the looks of it.
Yep.
うん。
So it's not too far.
Tell us what they did to you.
They searched me thoroughly.
Okay.
はい。
First of all, when we walked in, like through the security metal detectors, where they check your hand luggage, they patted down my entire body.
Oh yeah.
Around my waist.
Obviously, it was a man that did it, and there were.
I had a woman that did it.
It was a tiny Chinese lady.
Oh really?
Yeah, dude.
I had this like.
I had this like tall Chinese guy.
It was awkward.
He was like six, like four.
This tall Chinese guy pat down my whole body, and then use a metal detector all over my body, even on my hair.
He used it on my hair as well.
That was.
He made me take off my bandana.
That was something.
So now I don't have my bandana on.
I guess they were very thorough.
Tell them how much they checked you.
Yeah.
うん。
So when we went to put our items for the X-ray, obviously they asked you to take out your laptop, your battery pack, which I did.
But the first time it went through, they're like, "Do you have any more battery packs?
" Okay, maybe they want to see the batteries I have.
So I take out the camera.
batteries for the main camera and my action camera, and they look through each individual battery thoroughly, and then they put it to the side and they scan it again.
And then there was something else that popped up.
So I'm like thinking, what else?
They're like battery pack, battery.
I'm like, oh, there's another battery, another action camera battery that was separate because it didn't fit in the charging case.
And then I showed them that.
They looked at it.
They're like, okay.
It went through the X-ray again, and then something else picked up, and it was a multi-tool for the camera.
It was like some Phillips heads, hex heads, some square heads.
Nothing sharp, but they're like debating it.
They called their like supervisor.
Like, what?
What is this?
Obviously, they were speaking Mandarin, so I didn't understand.
I translated on my phone.
Like, if it's an issue, I can just leave it here.
And they're like, yeah.
Like, I have to get my higher supervisor.
I'm like, yeah, just leave it.
I don't need it.
And then that was it.
So in total, you had to go through the X-ray like four times.
Yeah, four times.
They checked your whole entire bag.
His bag was like every.
Everywhere.
Oh yeah.
And I didn't take a video because I'm pretty sure you're not allowed to.
No, definitely not.
But they had to check all his stuff, and I was just standing there waiting.
I was just posted up on the side.
And it was hot up there.
I was sweating.
Yeah, it was literally actually just up there, and it was hot.
Yeah.
うん。
But now we're at this family mart.
I think we'll get some water, get something to drink, and then go find our gate.
Okay, guys.
Let me put you right there.
Okay, guys.
So we just went to the family mart, and I really wanted to buy a bottle of water, but I don't know.
I did not see any water there.
I wasn't looking for water.
So I just got.
I don't know.
I just wanted something zero sugar, and this looked like not too bad, like lemon.
Did you get burst juice again?
No.
I got lemon.
I really hope there's like almost no sugar.
It's good to drink citrus before you get on a plane.
Cause you ever get that feeling when you like feel like you're getting a cold on a plane?
But obviously, you don't drink citrus.
It's pretty sweet, but I would have preferred it if it was like way more sour and not sweet.
Should have got the same brand as this one because that tastes like legit orange juice.
Damn.
I was not a good choice.
Anyway, the other thing I got was a tuna mayo kimbap or onigiri, whatever you want to call it.
This is my opinion.
I think this is the best flavor, tuna mayo, tuna mayo, because it always hits.
It can never go bad.
Have you ever had like a gourmet one?
No.
ない。
Like outside of a convenience store?
No.
ない。
You're missing out.
So much better.
It would be because then they would fill it up a lot more with the like tuna and mayo.
Well, yeah, the rice is fresh too.
I remember when I went to Japan in 2023 with my mom.
We were in, I believe, Kyoto, and we were walking to see.
It was like this really beautiful park where we wore a kimono.
Kimono, and we saw a lady selling onigiri like out of like a her house or something or like some stall, and we bought some.
And they were really good.
They were like forget what flavors we had, but they were really good.
Anyway, let's try this one.
This is a triangular shaped.
The seaweed on the outside is a dark green color.
If you pull the seaweed back, you can see the white rice.
And if you take a bite out of the onigiri, you can see the tuna mayo inside.
Yeah, it's the GOAT of onigiri.
I would get so many in Thailand.
There was this little stall that just sold onigiri and some drinks.
So I would get onigiri there and then hop on the train and go to my destination.
Get one like all the time.
I know I like it because it just feels like fresh, like something light.
Yeah, like something like not so real.
Yeah, like real food.
Even though I know it's like mass produced, it still feels like at least something almost real.
You know?
Yeah, I get.
Rather than like a bag of chips or a chocolate bar or something.
Right.
That's why it's such a popular like lunch item in Asia because it works so well.
It has everything you need in a quick, easy to eat lunch.
I really like onigiri.
So many.
What is your favorite thing to buy in a convenience store, and why?
Usually, I'm sure you've seen this in the videos.
I usually go for like a sandwich, like it's just like perfectly rounded out.
Like it's like the Western version of a onigiri.
It's got your carbs, protein, and some vegetable.
What did you get?
I got an egg sandwich.
I actually haven't had an egg sandwich in such a long time, and we lowkey
should have went to Family Mart outside of the airport and checked out their items because they usually have like the best out of all the convenience store chains.
Really?
Yeah, like the quality's the highest in Family Mart.
I don't know.
I found the tuna mayo from Seven Eleven was the best I've ever had here.
Yeah, but you didn't try the Family Mart tuna mayo.
I just did.
Outside of the airport, because the thing with airports is everything has to go through security.
People, the food, documents, building materials.
So that just adds like more time you gotta wait for your food and like more processing that they have to do with everything.
So that can diminish the quality.
The Amir messes you.
Who cleans up after you?
We have about three hours till our flight takes off.
I think we'll do some work and maybe sleep.
It's like nine PM now, or no, ten PM now.
We're a little bit tired.
We had a long day.
We were outside all day shopping.
I literally bought so many bandanas and so much snacks.
Half my suitcase is just filled with snacks.
But yeah, we'll see you guys once we get on the plane.
Okay, guys, we just got on the flight, and now we're just waiting for everyone to board.
Leon is sitting in the aisle seat.
I am sitting in the window seat here, and everyone is still boarding the plane.
So we just need to wait about another twenty minutes, and then we can take off.
Outside there, you can see.
runway and the terminal.
That right there is the wing of the plane, and you can also see vehicles outside there.
And right now it's about almost 1 a.m., so it's a red eye flight.
A red eye flight.
Okay, guys.
So we just got through immigration, and now we're picking up our luggage at the luggage carousel.
You can see Leon got both of our bags, and now we're gonna go catch a taxi and go home.

That is when you fly in like the middle of the night.
But we slept throughout the whole flight.
But it was only like for five hours, and then we had to wait an hour through immigration, so it was just a very long process.
And then it was about a 45-minute taxi drive to our apartment.
But now we're home, and yeah, overall.
