Our ancestors were busy just trying to survive every day.
They discovered fire, started hunting, and eventually evolved to produce their own food.
Now, we live in an era where we can enjoy a delicious, balanced meal just by heating it up in the microwave.

Nosh, I'm counting on you.
Today I've come to Namba in Osaka. There are too many people and it's awkward, so I'll keep moving.
Today I'm heading to Kyushu from this magnificent station.
I'm heading to Kyushu on this train. This is the Kansai Airport line, it's an airport train, but I'm not going to the airport.
Today I'm taking a train from here in Namba to Izumiotsu.
I'll transfer at the station and take a ferry to cross the Seto Inland Sea overnight. I'll arrive at Moji Port at 6:00 AM tomorrow.
I think it's better to go to the front.
There's a train here too. I hope I can get to the port with this, but this is a train I shouldn't take, so it's over there. 20 minutes to Izumiotsu,
I guess. Oh no.
I didn't have time to think. I only have 2 minutes left until the ferry connection bus.
This is my first time here, but I've looked up the bus stop, so it's fine. So, going this way, is this the Izumiotsu ferry terminal? Osaka's
sea,
right. I think this is a historic district where ships have been departing since the Edo period. Oh, I can see the ship.
This is the Hankyu Ferry Hibiki that I'll be boarding now.
It's 17:30, 45 minutes from now. Tomorrow
morning at 6:00, I'll arrive at Moji Port. Well, they are loading the cars. Yes.
I've arrived at the ferry terminal.
This ship is incredibly cool, it's like the Queen Elizabeth.
Or rather,
especially this promenade deck is cool, I was just looking at it. This time, with Q-World,
it's ticketless boarding. This is the waiting area for boarding the ship.
Why, well, for those who can't wait,
there are also slots here. It takes 10 minutes. They have been modified for daily use, and the 8-person machines have different settings.
The settings are important.
So, I've boarded the Hibiki. It seems to be quite a luxurious ship. I heard it even won an award about 10 years ago.
That's nice.
Oh, an atrium elevator. Is this a 10-year-old ship?
この
This
code is the key to the room, so I just need to head to my room.
Wow, really? Is this really okay?
What is this? A restaurant or a first-class lounge?
I think it's a restaurant. It's currently
preparing for business, so there's no one here, which means I can film the interior perfectly.
Is this really okay? This room is like
a hotel.
It's carpeted, so it has a very luxurious feel. It's very plush underfoot, and this is my room, 553. There's a QR code here.
Did it open? It glowed blue, so I think it opened. Let's try.
The scent of tatami.
So, for the next 13 hours,
in this wonderful tatami seat, I will cross the Seto Inland Sea.
With this atmospheric tea cup in hand,
while looking at the sea, this space on the outer deck,
this, how should I say, I can see the sea well, but
the feeling of being surrounded by cherry blossoms on the wooden deck on the hill, like being right near a fishing village, feels like a ship journey.
It's natural, but I don't have to stay here the whole time.
It's not like you have to sit in the tatami room all night long until you rest, you know, there's a closet over there.
You have to lay out the futon yourself, but you can do it yourself.
It's a bit hot, well, it's hot because I'm wearing layers, a little bit.
The humidity is high, so for times like that, look here, there's an air conditioner. It probably has cooling, heating, and dry modes. Does it have dry?
Does it have it?
Is it in the 'on' position?
It's difficult, but I think it's probably running in dry mode. Well, let's check later if the humidity has gone down.
Also, over here,
there is a deodorizer provided by the Hankyu Ferry, but
the label is half torn off. I wonder why? Maybe they tore it off in advance out of consideration, but
it's probably a deodorizer that doesn't mask odors with a pharmaceutical scent. It's not a toilet deodorizer, is it? Also, I want to fix the futon later, but let's just check it first. It's nice, the way the tatami is...
and it smells clean.
There are 1, 2, 3 pillows.
This room can accommodate up to 3 people, so there are 3 sets of futons.
Also, the price you're curious about. For this room, it's about 12,000 yen per person. You can go from Osaka to Fukuoka.
I think it's quite cheap. I mean, if you stay at a hotel now, it costs about 12,000 yen a night, right?
It's like you pay the hotel price and you can travel. Well, it might be tough that you have to leave at 6 AM, but it's a very good means of transportation, isn't it?
However, since I'm using this three-person room by myself, I have to pay a private room fee. In that case, this time...
I paid 20,000 yen, but I feel like 20,000 yen is still a good deal.
This room doesn't seem to have a bath or toilet. There is a washbasin. There's soap here too, is it Kirei Kirei or Biore? Double...
It's Biore. Well, you can use it as much as you want.
Also, it's a mystery, but there are cups, but only one is placed here. It's a bit difficult to tell if three will be provided for three people.
ですね
There are slippers here too, but there are three pairs of slippers. That's a bit of a mystery. Let's go out. It's an auto-lock. Be careful.
When you leave the room, there is a
toilet in the hallway.
The toilet doesn't seem to be extremely large. Well, I don't think many people use it.
It's time.
It's departure time. It seems you can watch the departure from here.
時じ
I've come to the live deck from earlier.
It's not moving anymore. It's moving away. Oh,
it's nice. It feels like a sea voyage.
A lot of people are waving at us. Thank you.
And the view is wonderful, this is the Sen-shu industrial zone.
Around this ferry terminal, it's not moving away. There's a ship dock. You can feel the history from the Edo period.
The ship that departed is heading towards Kobe.
The area around the port is narrow, so I think the captains are proceeding carefully. Well, I think they are always operating carefully. There's a dock in Rokko.
And the scenery you can see is
over there,
the Osaka city area, like USJ and the Kaiyukan Aquarium. That area is the site of the Expo. Somewhere around here is Tennozu. Nishinomiya.
And
Kobe. Kobe is beautiful, isn't it? Residential areas are lined up on the mountain slopes.
The route the ship takes is written inside. This is a cruising mark. A mysterious character.
This is, you know, the cat that lives on the ship.
そして
Also, there's a place that looks a bit elegant.
Well, I'm looking at this small boat here.
I'm watching.
I'm watching.
I'm watching.
I'm watching.
I'm watching.
We have now departed from Izu Sea,
and from here on we will pass through the Akashi Strait.
After that, we will also pass under the Shodoshima Seto Bridge. The Kurushima Strait is interesting. I wonder if we'll pass through there around midnight.
Looking at this luxurious-looking brochure, wow, it's extremely high-end. They're using good paper.
The facilities are roughly listed here.
There are places I haven't been to yet. Wow, there's even tempura like this?
There's also a large public bath. I should go there early.
Oh, wait, this is for a different ship, the Setsuyama. There are even more luxurious ones.
The one I'm on this time is the Hibiki, so it's this one. Apparently, the Hibiki and the Izu are about the same. But hey, this is really nice, isn't it?
I like this part because you can see the steel frame. There's a large public bath too.
There's a restaurant and a tent room.
The captain greets us, doesn't he?
Wow, it feels like I'm on some kind of luxury liner.
There's a game room. I'll refrain from saying the name. A karaoke room. And the guest rooms look like this.
The one I'm using right now is a Deluxe Japanese-style room.
に
It
なります
is.
There are also Western-style rooms.
These are nice too, but it seems they don't have a bath or toilet in the room.
And for the high-end rooms,
well, they are called suites, and it seems suites have a bath and toilet. A two-meter cruise ship?
I've never been on one. There's apparently a Royal class even above the suite. The Royal is a bit too luxurious.
It comes with a private balcony, and it seems like the living room and
the bedroom are separated.
This is a luxury facility even bigger than a regular cruise ship.
Conversely, for cheaper rooms, there are still these old-fashioned shared rooms. There are, this bunk bed, I think this is quite comfortable.
This is enough, but this is also interesting.
It's good, it's good. Isn't there someone there? Is it okay to go out? It is.
That's the Miyazaki Ferry passing by. I want to try riding that one too.
That one over there is the Sunflower heading to Kagoshima, right? There are a lot of these in Osaka.
Shall I try going to the restaurant?
It's not that crowded.
Ferries really do have a sense of spaciousness. The price
isn't that high either. Morning set for 100 yen. Other
things might be cheaper than on land, if you think about it.
Rice is 230 yen. A meal is 300 yen. That
の
too
is quite intriguing. Why aren't there any photos?
No, there are, sorry. There were photos after all. Oh, they even have this? Steak teppan. Well,
it's not
an impossibly high price. Cream stew, this Caesar salad looks good. 650 yen.
They are particular about it. The steamed salmon with herbs also seems good, I think.
Sorry if this sounds strange, but I wonder if there are rare items. Boar meat for 1100 yen.
And it's domestic too.
I want to go to the restaurant,
but there's a scenic spot. We'll be passing the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge, so I'll come back later. It's open until 8 o'clock.
A vast TV space?
This is nice, this elevator. They're showing news about someone who married an AI, right? Famous.
There are people who married one.
Well, I think it's fine to marry an AI, but I feel like you could marry an AI while also marrying a human.
Humans can only marry one person, but with AI, you can marry as many times as you want.
Excuse me, that's a bit...
There's no point in talking about philosophy.
They say there's a lounge with a nice view ahead. This room... the indoor lighting is dimmed. Huh?
So you can see the view even in the evening? This is interesting.
Wow, it's like a real ship's bridge.
Is it? I see.
Wow, this is a great spot, isn't it? Right here...
There was no one here.
You can see the view from the front. And even in the evening, too.
Oh, right on the right side is Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture. On the left is Awaji Island.
This narrow part in the middle is the Akashi Strait. Since the tide flows through this narrow area all at once, it's fast.
And at the very front, you can watch the Akashi Strait gradually getting closer. It's very popular with passengers.
I think there are few ferries where you can do this in the evening.
Shall we go outside and see the strait? The wind is strong. It's quite sturdy, so even if a sudden gust blows, it won't slam shut all at once.
It seems there's a mechanism for that. Wow, the wind is strong, so it's better to hold onto the handrail properly while going down.
It feels like a factory. Wow, what a great atmosphere.
And it seems we are passing through about the middle of the Akashi Strait. Since it's landing at Kobe Airport, the airplanes feel incredibly close to the land.
That one probably came from Hokkaido.
It's close, the land is close.
The view of the residential area in Kobe is wonderful.
And on the other side, it's not that close, but that's Awaji Island.
And yes.
This is the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge.
It's the best fishing spot in Japan. Honestly, I'm not into fishing at all, so I wonder if it's okay for me to introduce it so confidently.
But still, at this scale in the evening...
It's very impressive. It's overwhelmingly larger than the Rainbow Bridge in Tokyo or the Bay Bridge in Yokohama. Yes, then...
Please enjoy it with me.
Or like this...
I'll watch it once. Oh, the feeling of passing under it right now is nice. It's good.
From here on, it's the Seto Inland Sea.
By the way, there's talk about being able to run Shinkansen trains under here too.
But in reality, I wonder if it's impossible. It seems it's impossible to run Shinkansen.
The feeling of connecting to the open sea after passing under it is also nice.

So, since the ferry was successful, they built a new ferry terminal here in 1991. Hankyu
Ferry, until it was built, I think this area was a place where they were building ships, as you can see some houses over there.

If we take too long, we'll be late. We'll miss it, we'll miss it. Kinako, who isn't flying, has to take a taxi. I'm flying off.

We're late here. It's the safe and reliable Nishitetsu bus. It snowed quite a bit, didn't it? In the winter mountains, some people go to the mountain peaks or Yamaguchi Prefecture.
Some people are heading that way, and we're coming out of the tunnel, so it's the mountain peak. Even if it snows, there are veterans out there. If you transfer here,

Okay. Yes, I bought it. Well, unless there's a budget or some other reason, using the Shinkansen is the best way between JNR Hakata.

This train is the 700 series. It's the one they used to use in Tokyo. Was it like this?
I guess it probably was. By the way, it takes 17 minutes to get to Hakata, but it seems 17 minutes is a bit slow. This train is a bit slow. The maximum speed is only 285 km/h, while normal Shinkansen go at 300 km/h, so it's a bit slow. Well, it doesn't really matter, it only changes by a minute or two.

Does it leave at 7:10 in the morning? Well, I want to go back from the first train in the morning, but if you take the Shinkansen the night before and stay over,

it costs money for a hotel. That's why ferries are good. People in Osaka and Kobe say they use them like a night bus.
It would be nice if it were a comfortable night bus like that. People in Kyushu and Osaka are lucky. There isn't much like that in Tokyo. That's often said.
Our ancestors were struggling just to survive every day.
