She's special.
Out of all of Isabel's incredible foster stories, I had never seen a dog who had been failed so badly yet had so much love to give.
It's always one thing to read about the conditions of a dog and then to see it in person.
You could see every single bone.
And maybe part of why Whimsy's story got me is because she reminded me so much of my own dog Briggy.
They looked alike.
They had these joyful, affectionate, silly, pitty personalities.
But Isabel welcomed her home, and with the help of the best foster brother Simon, they gave Whimsy a safe place to heal and get healthy again.
The first few days with Whimsy, she was immediately so loving.
Pure Velcro dog, wanted to live inside your skin.
And while we're no stranger to Isabel and Simon being the power duo of fostering on the internet, there was also someone really special that played a big role in Whimsy's journey.
Jacob, or as a lot of us know him, Mr.
Isabel.
As you can tell from the way that she is absolutely melting in his arms, Jacob and Whimsy formed a very special bond.
I think there's something with pity girls and their dads.
There's just some sort of love affair.
And one night, you know, we're just sitting on the couch being silly, and we decided to start singing to her.
There was, however, one notable exception.
Whimsy could not stand anything by Creed.
It's like mom making stuff.
But that's the special thing about fostering.
Somewhere between the silly moments and the milestones, these fosters have a funny way of teaching us really important lessons.
And Whimsy taught Isabel a really hard lesson.
One day, it was a very crowded area.
There was construction happening, so we had to pass by another dog very closely, and she ended up biting that dog.
It kind of shook me as an experienced foster.
I think I learned so much from it, and I was able to show up for her in the way that she needed me to.
After that, eventually, that advocacy led Whimsy exactly where she was meant to be—a quiet home in the suburbs with parents who were ready to spoil her so silly.
