Yes, so this time, I'd like to make a video focusing on the tires that Osumi-kun's GR Corolla is wearing.
The tires on Osumi-kun's GR Corolla are the Mochiba UHP.
We drove on these tires from Tokyo to Osaka, and then around the Kii Peninsula, we've driven quite a lot, haven't we.
That's right.
We've driven about a thousand kilometers, I think, and I'd like to share what we felt after driving that thousand kilometers, a review of it.
はい。
Yes.
So let's get started.
First, this Avon Mochiba UHP
tire — where I learned about it was from a place called Autoway.
はい。
Yes.
Osumi-kun, do you know Autoway?
I just learned about them recently.
Oh, really?
Well, I think many people don't know them, so to explain briefly, it's a company that sells overseas tires and wheels online in Japan.
Autoway has direct contracts with 3,800 tire-handling companies in Japan, and
you can have tires bought from Autoway fitted at a nearby
tire fitting shop near your home that is contracted with Autoway — that's the kind of service it is.
Yes, yes.
So we also had these fitted at a tire shop contracted with Autoway, in that same way.
Yes, yes.
So then, what kind of tire is the Avon Mochiba UHP? Avon is a company based in the UK.
And sales in Japan started in May 2026, so it's a relatively recent tire.
はい。
Yes.
So it's the Mochiba UHP tire, and UHP stands for Ultra High Performance.
I see.
はい。
Yes.
So as you can tell from the name, it's a sporty type of tire.
That's right.
Certainly, looking at the appearance, it looks quite sporty.
A sporty tire, yes.
What do you think, any impression of the looks?
Certainly, the looks do feel sporty.
That's right.
はい。
Yes.
I think it matches really well with the GR Corolla's wide wheels.
はい。
Yes.
From here, I'd like to introduce four specific features of what kind of tire the Mochiba UHP is.
はい。
Yes.
The four are, first, the four grooves in the center of the tire.
はい。
Yes.
Next is the shoulder area.
うん。
Yeah.
Then the silica compound, the rubber compound characteristics, and lastly the carcass, the structural framework.
These have distinctive features, so let's take a closer look at what kind of construction it has.
はい。
Yes.
First, there are four grooves in the tire like this, but do you know what kind of grooves these are?
This is, you know, that thing, right.
When it rains, yes,
water collects on the ground, and these are for draining it away effectively.
Exactly right.
はい。
Yes.
はい。
Yes.
So these four grooves drain the water away, right?
うん。
Yeah.
And if these four grooves weren't there, you'd get that hydroplaning phenomenon, right?
はい。
Yes.
Well, that would happen, right?
うん。
Yeah.
Basically, the tire is on top of water, so it slips easily, yeah.
It ends up in that kind of state.
はい。
Yes.
But thanks to these four grooves in the Mochiba UHP, it can drain water efficiently, so even if it's raining, it will firmly and solidly
grip the ground.
はい。
Yes.
Next, the second one is the part called the shoulder, but, oh, do you know this?
Shoulder.
はい。
Yes.
Is it this part here?
Ah, that's right.
Shoulder means shoulder in Japanese, but the Mochiba UHP's shoulder area stabilizes the contact patch and improves cornering performance.
はい。
Yes.
Force isn't applied only to the center of the tire, right? When turning a curve, a lot of force is applied over here or over there too, isn't it?
So if the shoulder doesn't hold firm, the tire can slip easily, or the steering doesn't respond the way you expect.
That's right.
はい。
Yes.
So it's like it's strengthened the shoulders, or rather, improved the shoulders' ability to hold firm — that's a feature of the Mochiba UHP.
はい。
Yes.
And the third feature is, tires are made of rubber, right?
That's right.
And they're quite particular about the rubber compound too, compounding — meaning blending — a material called silica,
and by doing that, they've also improved the tire's handling performance.
And another major feature of the tire is the carcass, which is like the bones in a human.
はい。
Yes.
They're quite particular about this skeletal structure as well.
はい。
Yes.
And this skeletal part called the carcass.
If it's too soft, when you turn the steering wheel it won't go in the direction you intended, or
it won't be very stable at high speeds, and even when driving straight you constantly have to keep adjusting the steering, it ends up in that kind of state, but
the Mochiba UHP has a solid carcass as well, so even when driving at high speeds it's very stable.
We actually drove on the Shin-Tomei Expressway, so how did it feel driving at high speeds?
Certainly, even when driving at 120 kilometers per hour on the Shin-Tomei,
there was no instability in the steering at all, and I think it achieved a very stable drive.
Ah, I see.
Also, slight steering inputs when changing lanes are quite important, I think, but how was lane changing?
Lane changes were also quite smooth, and there was no instability when changing lanes, yes yes yes.
I see.
So the fact that it runs stably at high speeds might be because this carcass is solid.
So that's a tire with these four performance features.
And in addition to those four basic performance features I just mentioned, for example, the UHP is also particular about quietness in its tread pattern design.
はい。
Yes.
So what this means is, if you look at the shoulder part, you can see that the inner side is a bit thicker, but it gets a bit thinner toward the outer side, right?
Ah, indeed, that's true.
Right, right, and by doing this, when the tire runs, it's like it's crushing the air, isn't it?
That's right.
はい。
Yes.
At times like that, quite a bit of noise is generated, but this shape is designed to let that compressed air escape to the outside, right?
はい。
Yes.
With that, for example, even when driving at high speed, the road noise caused by the tires is considerably reduced, I think.
Yes, yes.
Well, indeed, that's true.
It means that even when driving at high speed, you didn't really feel like there was much noise, right?
That's right.
We drove quite a bit at high speed, but I didn't really notice road noise, road noise.
That's right, isn't it.
はい。
Yes.
So from here on, we'd like to actually drive and show you what kind of driving feel this tire has.
はい。
Yes.
Now, we'd like to bring you a driving impression with the MOTIVA UHP fitted.
はい。
Yes.
はい。
Yes.
We've driven with these tires in quite a lot of different situations, haven't we?
That's right.
はい。
Yes.
First, on the first day, it was raining quite a lot.
はい。
Yes.
And in that rain, we were driving in the city, where there's quite a lot of stop-and-go, and, yes.
Is there anything that left an impression on you at that time?
Well...
As I've said repeatedly, yes.
I have the image that it ran very stably even in quite heavy rain.
That's right, isn't it.
It was raining quite a lot at that time, wasn't it.
It was raining quite heavily, yeah.
You know, with normal tires you often feel like your footing is being taken away, but I didn't feel that at all.
Ah.
はい。
Yes.
I see.
Well, after all.
Well, after all, those four grooves' drainage performance is working quite well, isn't it.
Yes, yes, and what was particularly impressive was when we were making a U-turn in the rain.
There was, wasn't there.
Yes, we turned the steering wheel all the way to make that U-turn, but
At that time when making the U-turn, did the steering wheel ever go somewhere unexpected, different from the direction you turned?
Not at all.
Not at all.
So it really turned just as if it wasn't raining at all?
That's right.
Yes, and after that we drove on highways and such, didn't we.
はい。
Yes.
Well, we drove from the Metropolitan Expressway to the Tomei and Shin-Tomei, and the Metropolitan Expressway has quite a lot of high-speed curves,
I think there were also situations where you had to drive briskly, but how was it in those cases?
Yeah, even then, there was no feeling of instability at all.
Oh, really?
はい。
Yes.
Well, that's true.
Well, the Metropolitan Expressway has quite sharp curves
The Metropolitan Expressway has quite sharp curves and quite a few ups and downs, I think, but even then it drove stably and sportily.
That's how it drove for us.
That's right.
Also, at the joints where roads connect, since those parts are metal, I thought they might be quite slippery,
But once I actually drove on it, that wasn't the case at all.
That's right.
There was absolutely no sensation of slipping on the metal parts.
Right, right.
I thought it might go thud because of the slight step, and of course, well, there is a step in that the tire drops and then comes back up,
but there was no feeling of a harsh jolt or anything like that.
That's right.
はい。
Yes.
And then, what about noise?
Well, we drove at 120 km/h on the Shin-Tomei Expressway, so how was the road noise and such?
The engine sound is quite loud, but I didn't really notice any noise from the tires.
Oh, really.
はい。
Yes.
Well, that's true.
Certainly, there was absolutely no feeling that the tires were noisy.
うん。
Yeah.
はい。
Yes.
That's right.
So no matter how fast you drive on the highway, the tires were never noisy at all.
That's right.
はい。
Yes.
So, as for everyday use,
even if you use it in quite demanding conditions, you can use it with a lot of confidence,
はい。
Yes.
How should I put it, you can really entrust yourself to it with peace of mind.
You can drive this car with peace of mind.
That's right.
And yet the MOTOBI UHP has a pretty cool design, doesn't it?
That's right.
With that sporty look, yes.
Since it's made into tires like that, I think I can really recommend these.
I can recommend these with confidence.
That's right.
はい。
Yes.
So for example, people driving sports-type cars like the GR Corolla.
はい。
Yes.
For those concerned about tire maintenance costs, please purchase the MOTOBI UHP from Autobacs, and I think you can drive with relatively low running costs.
はい。
Yes.
Right now we're driving in the mountains of Mie Prefecture, aren't we?
はい。
Yes.
Since it's in a mountainous area, there are many steep slopes and sharp curves, that's how it feels, yes.
Well, how about the handling at times like that.
I wonder how it is.
That's right.
Well, there are many curves, but even so, I think it still has stability.
Oh, really.
Well, it felt like it went exactly where I steered it, just as I intended.
That's right.
It went where I wanted it to go.
Ah, I see.
はい。
Yes.
Well, so even when driving quite a lot in mountainous areas, the stability is high.
That's right.
はい。
Yes.
Well, I think we were able to convey that.
はい。
Yes.
Yes, so we've introduced the MotoBuy UHP.
Finally, we'll announce the price you're curious about.
The price is 7,830 yen per tire, tax included and shipping included.
So even if you buy four, the total stays at 31,320 yen, it's that affordable.
And as for whether there's any catch, after driving 1,000 km, we didn't think so.
Yeah, it didn't feel like that at all.
はい。
Yes.
Rather, it feels like it's finished as a very high-quality tire.
The handling performance is really good, and even when driving at high speed in heavy rain, it runs stably.
Yes yes, is it a tire with high satisfaction for that kind of purpose too.
The satisfaction level is already very high.
Well, we also drove in the rain, but even then it ran very stably.
Yeah, yes.
Well, that's right.
なので
So
if you want a sporty tire,
I'll put a purchase link for Autobuy in the video description, so please purchase from there.
Yes, we'll end this video here.
Thank you for watching.
