After the birth of President Trump,
next, you know, the election four years later, well, I think Elon Musk will run
I think it'll be President Elon Musk
and, well, the Trump Republican slogan, at that time, well
what has become clear is how to show the difference between Republicans and Democrats. In other words, America's
shrinking the power of the government and enlarging the power of individuals, and those who work hard and have talent should just keep getting rich, this
Republican policy and also the Democrats'
anyway trying to make everyone as equal as possible, aiming not just for equality of opportunity but even equality of outcome
for that, making the government bigger and giving to the weak even if taxes get a bit higher
this Democratic policy, rather than this difference in policy
I think we need to broaden the frame a bit, or rather, we have to make it easy to understand
And the Republican slogan, the current
the slogan of the Republicans where Trump is, is
to make America strong, but more than that, it's that if you're not strong it's meaningless, bringing to the front that kind of
guts that Americans essentially have, and so people like Elon Musk
I think guys like that will emerge as presidential candidates from here on. In four years, as for the Democrats, whether the Democrats can rebuild
I think rather than putting out more political experts, it's about rebuilding the symbol. And
as a slogan, you know, they have to take the opposite stance from the Republicans' make America strong, or if you're not strong it's meaningless. So
what could it be, make America the world's leader, in other words
the Republicans' basic politics is that the rest of the world doesn't matter, as long as America
is fine, as long as America is
number one, but they have no choice but to take the opposite of that, so
make America the world's leader again, meaning we will get involved in foreign problems. Because America is the ideal nation
Unless they put out something this different in concept, I don't think the difference between Republicans and Democrats will show. And, to make it the world's leader, the world's ideal nation
well, you know, if they're going to go up against Trump or Elon Musk
I think they'd have to run Taylor Swift, you know, making celebrities and stars like that
the party's candidates, you know
I think American elections are going to become really like a popularity contest, like a school caste thing
I think this is an interesting way to look at it with four years ahead in mind
Basically America originally had what is called the Monroe Doctrine, that America as a country is already rich and
has plenty of resources so it can live without relating to other countries, saying that
they didn't join World War I, and in World War II they really intended not to join the war either
and separately from that, actively
after World War II they took expansionism, to do America's peacekeeping
how should I put it, from Southeast Asia, Japan, Southeast Asia to the NATO countries
expanding the security zone, this Monroe Doctrine and expansionism were America's
two wheels. Which one to take has always been debated, in other words the Monroe Doctrine-like American isolationism, or
a shut-in-ism, like, I'm a country bumpkin
but I'm a powerful person, don't look down on me, don't think I'm a bumpkin and do as you please in my yard
I won't allow it, this is the Republican way of thinking of thoroughly preventing illegal immigration, driving them out
the Democrats' that America
extending America's justice to the world is justice and truth and the American Way
that was Superman's
catchphrase
Superman, as those who really know it know
Superman fights for justice and truth and the American Way. When it was broadcast in Japan, they said for justice and truth and peace, but
that's not it. He fights for the American Way. That is, you know, the
America that the Democrats aim for,
I thought they should create an axis of confrontation like this. Well, I'll continue in the members-only commentary. The name General Products
itself comes from what a man named Larry Niven wrote
In a novel,
there's a company name, a big corporation's name, well,
well, there are these aliens called Puppeteers, the best businessmen in the galaxy, and they run the biggest company in the universe, and that company's name is General Products,
And probably,
if Elon Musk were to make his next
big company,
I think it would be General Products. Because,
the generative AI he recently developed and integrated into X is called Grok, right. Well, I call it Grok, but
The reason I call it Grok is because that's originally how it's read,
and what that is, is from Heinlein's Stranger in a Strange Land, the novel called The Stranger,
It's a word that appears in,
It's Martian language. It's a story about an Earth youth raised by Martians since he was a baby coming to Earth. Elon reads SF, right,
He only reads SF. And only from the 40s, 50s, 60s,
It's the story of Valentine Michael Smith, a youth raised by Martians since he was a baby, returning to Earth, but
to understand something essentially, to understand it completely, is called to 'grok' in Martian. So
I think the Gundam Newtype also originally comes from this Heinlein grok,
That's why Lalah says Newtypes aren't tools for fighting, and Amuro finally escapes from A Baoa Qu,
and Katz, Letz, and Kikka awaken to Newtype abilities, and what saw the route from A Baoa Qu accurately
is what,
クー
Qu
just by seeing it, instantly understanding from its structure what it is and even its history in his head, that's grokking,
So it's normally impossible for humans, but Valentine Michael Smith, trained by Martians since he was a baby, can grok things,
To perceive that deeply and understand completely, that's what grok is,
Naming his SF AI that, that's so Elon Musk. I think, what, he's a nerd, an SF nerd, but
Well, such an SF maniac Elon Musk, he won't miss this name General Products,
Right. Probably, not just a car maker or just some communications equipment maker,
in the future, something that makes all kinds of things comprehensively,
a company like that, or
when he makes a mail-order company like Amazon, he'll definitely name it General Products, so
if you trademark it now in Japan or somewhere, you could swindle a lot of money out of Elon Musk, I think,
First come, first served. And this logo mark is this General Products, and
this illustration in the center, this central illustration is also quoted from an SF novel,
and what that is, is the declining Galactic Empire. Well, this is now published by Hayakawa as Foundation, and it was formerly
published by Sogen Mystery Library as The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire, and I read it as an elementary school student in this Shueisha
World SF Complete Collection edition. And in this,
on this spread illustration page, this illustration, at the very bottom of it,
ですね
you know,
At the base of the statue,
there was the sun and a spaceship and the mark of the Galactic Empire, it's a scene where he's surprised at the primitive statue of the completely fallen Galactic Empire, but
What exactly this spaceship and sun and Galactic Empire mark look like,
I've been thinking about it a lot since I first read it in elementary school, and Kitayama-senpai I mentioned earlier, he designed this mark for me, cool,
right? I really like it,
Somehow,
I want to make an acrylic stand, and acrylic keychains too,
I've come to want to make them, so
I might make something, I don't know. Space development is now led by the private sector. It's no longer the era of NASA or Russia,
The familiar Horiemon,
years old. In the Livedoor era, the Fuji TV acquisition,
and suddenly being thrown into prison, and after getting out, publishing a newsletter and making money from it, then online salons,
Well, the man who is always at the center of attention, Horiemon, Fumi...
Yes. So, the rocket made by that Horiemon reached an altitude of 166... on July 31st for the third time. Well,
Even saying 100 km for the third time, well, the second time was 97 km I think. So well, effectively...
The reason they often talk about 100 km altitude is that space developers all over the world all consider that the region recognized as space, called the Karman line
It's called
But
This time, they launched a rocket that received funding from Ten... from Kara, and amazingly released the payload there
Payload means, in other words, they didn't just launch the rocket alone, they loaded cargo on top of it and released it from the... line
They did releasing it from there, and even recovered it. Well, this is amazing, but now, like the 60s ahead...
of that Bezos's
of the American and Soviet era space race
It's become a space boom comparable to that
And, also
Before, countries were competing against each other, but this time private companies are competing against each other. That's the situation. And among them, even among private companies, these three people
Just remember these today and you'll be fine. I'll introduce three rivals. First is this bearded man on the far left, just
remember him as the beard
That's fine, the beard
He is Richard Branson, 71, chairman of the UK's Virgin Group. Originally the president of a record company called Virgin Records, then became president of an airline company like Virgin Atlantic, and does all sorts of other things, but he's an adventurer, this beard
And, he crossed the Pacific in a hot air balloon,
and went around the world. It's not just a rich man's hobby
He's really risked life-threatening danger to adventure, and he even received a knighthood from the British royal family, the so-called aristocratic beard
So this Beard went to space on July 11th
And to go to space, he used a spacecraft developed by his own company, called SpaceShipTwo
And what surprised the world was
He announced it suddenly. Normally if you're going to fly to space you'd advertise it extensively in advance, but he announced it suddenly and realized it suddenly
And the reason is because he wanted to achieve the world's first private spaceflight before his rival company Blue Origin. Should call it private passenger spaceflight
And Blue Origin had originally been advertising for months that they'd do it on July 20th, and yet suddenly
A little before, he said yes, we'll launch on July 11th, and stole the title of world's first
で
And
Having succeeded in this, this Beard's Virgin Galactic has already sold tickets at 50 million yen per person
They had already sold them. And for a while, well, there were various accidents so they weren't accepting new reservations, but they've started accepting additional reservations
This is, well,
Seats are selling, it seems. The era of private spaceflight has arrived
And the one most annoyed by this news, this beard's news, is the bald guy in the middle
years old. The former chairman of Amazon that we all use, now
He's the boss of the beard's rival company, Blue Origin. And
As I saw earlier, this Blue Origin had originally advertised that it would succeed in the world's first private spaceflight on July 20th
Because they were advertising it, the beard blindsided them and snatched the world's first. This bald Jeff Bezos
Immediately held a press conference and badmouthed Branson, and on top of that even opened a special website just to badmouth Branson, badmouth Virgin
There, well, Branson's spacecraft only reached an altitude of
kilometers, it didn't reach the 100 km Karman line, that's not space. Our rocket will
go up to 100 km altitude, he said. And also that Branson's spacecraft windows are small,
Our windows are the biggest in space, but
their windows are like this so even if you ride it
you're just losing out, he wrote, bam bam bam, well, he was badmouthing, but then as scheduled on July 20th
he succeeded in the world's second private passenger spaceflight and held a press conference. He held a press conference, but then
the thing is
Well, Jeff Bezos's plan backfired, and that press conference was hijacked by one old lady. That old lady is
the one I introduced in the July 25th seminar, Wally Funk
grandma. This person, in her youth, now Grandma Wally Funk
あの
um,
um, that bald Bezos
just for publicity, invited this Funk grandma, like, let's go on a spaceflight together, and invited her
and went, but as I talked about in the July 25th seminar
originally this Grandma Wally Funk
is part of Mercury Thirteen, that America's first astronauts should actually be women, as Kapscha said, and she even took the tests and did the training
and
despite actually scoring better than the male astronauts, under the gender discrimination of the time, she is the lady who couldn't go to space, but Bezos's spaceship, the Blue Origin one, properly went up to 100 km altitude and came back
And he called reporters and was holding a big press conference, Bezos holding the mic and trying to talk about various things, but
this Funk grandma barged right in there, like "look, I did it, I did it," and started saying things like that. And
well, suddenly, with NASA and
the cowardly former would-be astronauts and the behind-the-scenes
she ended up declaring victory over them
And, what's great about Bezos is that here he yielded to Ms. Funk
Bezos for a moment had a look like, uh, what should I do, but he handed the press conference over to Ms. Funk, and from there to Ms. Funk,
like, wow, amazing, amazing, and
oh, I'm the one who invited her, great, great, like that
well, a master party host doesn't think the one who stands out most should be me, but rather
like, look, this grandma, wasn't it great, and now even this grandma could go, spaceflight has become for everyone, that's the way Bezos yielded
As a result it turned out well. Actually, originally,
what the newspapers and news agencies had prepared was
an article titled "Bezos, second most successful in the world"
they had prepared, but
thanks to this grandma grabbing the mic and suddenly starting to give a speech, it became like, the grandma whose dream was stolen by a male-dominated society has finally fulfilled her dream,
it became that kind of article and was distributed around the world. So really, as a result, it was a huge success
And, watching the fight between this bearded guy and the bald guy and Branson from earlier from the side was this third man
これね
Here,
I'm not deliberately picking this middle one. PayPal founder and head of Tesla Motors, Elon Musk. Well, he's now the richest man in the world
This guy, his official photos are quite something. I really looked up Elon Musk photos
and researched them in various ways, but at this time it's just funny faces, funny poses and such. Everyone, please
do an image search for Elon Musk. Really, it's all him doing strange poses. Well, occasionally there's a decent one,
and Tesla's official page uses that one, but
this person seems to have a habit of making funny faces or funny poses when a camera is pointed at him
Mostly there are many photos like this. He happily, delightedly appeared in Iron Man 2, and also in The Simpsons, and in The Big Bang Theory,
he's appeared, so he's truly the biggest joker in the celebrity world, you could say. And that
is. And, this Elon Musk also
has a space company, but he hasn't ridden his own spaceship yet. Still under development, the super-heavy spaceship Starship, he
succeeded in making a contract with. What contract is it? NASA aiming for around 2024
to land on the Moon again, to descend to the Moon, and for that, in the competition for the lunar lander spacecraft, Elon Musk's Starship
was selected
Then with this again,
bald Bezos got angry
He was furious, really. Why? Because
he himself, his own company
he was in the middle of eagerly pitching his Blue Origin company's spacecraft to NASA. But Bezos's Blue Origin lost, and only Elon Musk
passed, that's what happened. And, he must have been so frustrated, Bezos went out of his way. If you adopt my spaceship, NASA can contract for 2 billion
dollars, like that
What I mean is, you know,
I told them I'd pay NASA 100 million dollars from my company, so please reconsider, and there was an investigation by a government investigative body, but
they said, no, Mr. Bezos, that's not necessary, and turned me down, so
well, I was embarrassed. And actually this Elon Musk, you know,
this January his net worth exceeded 20 trillion yen, passing Bezos to become the richest man in the world,
It's really, you know, poor Jeff Bezos, poor thing,
He's so pitiful, Jeff Bezos,
The world's richest title was overtaken by Elon Musk, and the world's first private commercial space trip was snatched away by Richard Branson,
Well, these three people's companies are confusing, so I've summarized them a bit,
These three people's companies, Richard Branson the beard is Virgin Galactic. And the spaceship name is SpaceShip
and WhiteKnightTwo,
Jeff Bezos, you know. He's looking a bit overshadowed because Virgin is encroaching on him. His company is Blue Origin,
The spacecraft is what they call the uncrewed capsule, or the crewed capsule. The launch rocket is New Shepard, and
Elon Musk, the guy making a funny face. His company is SpaceX. The spacecraft is Dragon 2, and what's launching it is Falcon 9 Block
5. Plus they're now building a super huge spacecraft called Starship, and for launching it they're also now developing something called Falcon Super Heavy. Well,
yesterday,
or the day before, photos came out, and they're saying it's finally really complete, but still
they haven't even gotten permission to test yet. So since it's confusing,
1-to-1 scale,
I've prepared models in a unified size so let's compare them. First, Richard Branson's Virgin Galactic SpaceShip
This is it, but basically, you know,
it looks almost just like an airplane. Sorry, there's a trick to holding it,
it looks almost just like an airplane,
And these two on both sides, these are the airplane parts, and with these it flies up to where the air is thin,
and then detaches this middle one. Together. This middle part is the rocket motor,
it accelerates and reaches an altitude of 80 kilometers. That's how it works. So
Well, this is what's called WhiteKnightTwo, this is it. SpaceShipTwo, you know,
It's not satellite orbit. How should I put it. Well, it brings you up to 80 km altitude, the very bottom of space. That's how it is. And this is Virgin Galactic's
SpaceShipTwo, the bearded guy's spaceship. As they say,
the windows are quite small. So what does Bezos's, you know, the bald guy's spaceship look like, well it's this one,
This one is also relatively small. So in terms of size, well, certainly this one is bigger, but
The highlight is, look at the thickness and length of this fuselage part. This one is bigger, right,
And in the end, to launch humans up to 100 km altitude, you need this much fuel and engine, that's what it means,
And the feature of both is, this one returns to a runway, a runway on the ground,
This one, some of you may have seen in video, it can fire vertically and return to the ground. However, this
only the launch rocket part does a retro burn when returning to the ground,
the top part on the very top still opens a parachute and comes down that way. It's like that,
And this SpaceShipTwo is not just for use in space, for example it can be used as a passenger plane that flies between America and Japan in 2 hours or 2 and a half hours,
It can be used that way,
What is the feature of this one, it's really
when landing, it rides on the air and comes down like an airplane, so
actually, not just going to space as sightseeing, it can be used as a vehicle to move between continents at super high speed, that's the interesting part,
And New Shepard, you know,
it can go up to 100 km altitude, but it mostly just goes up and falls back down. And
it does reach outer space, but to get into satellite orbit, you need this next generation one called New Glenn, you know, the one with top speed Mach
とか
or something,
the one that goes that fast, without that it can't quite catch up to SpaceX, this Elon Musk's
can't catch up to his company, but well, being able to land vertically is cool, right?
And this Elon Musk spaceship here
is the same scale, 1/144, but it's huge
This part here is the Falcon 9 Block 5. Well, think of it as Falcon 9.5
Please think of Block 5 as meaning that, it's Falcon 9.5
Block 5 means that, it's Falcon 9.5
With the landing legs deployed, this one can also land vertically. What's more, this second stage can also land vertically. It's a terrifying spaceship
On top is what's called the Crew Dragon spacecraft
And it's already contracted with NASA. It's a rocket with many operational achievements
The one that took Mr. Noguchi to the International Space Station last December was this Falcon 9. In terms of speed
Simply put, this
going to outer space, everyone thinks it's about altitude, but actually it's about speed
And this one reaches Mach 4
And at Mach 4 you can't get into satellite orbit. At Mach 4 you can barely reach the very bottom of space. It's the same as this New Shepard. Mach
is all it reaches. So this also can't get into satellite orbit. To get into satellite orbit you need Mach 8 speed, but this reaches Mach
It reaches Mach 11. That's right, that's right
The International Space Station, you need about 7 point something kilometers per second to stay in orbit, so it can reach up to Mach 11
で
And
well, as I said earlier
you can pretty much tell by looking at the size. Keep in mind that you need about this size to lift humans into satellite orbit
And, as I said earlier, this can also land vertically
With rockets up to this point, it's nowhere near enough for a trip to the Moon. To go to the Moon, what you need is, well, this is a chart made by the NewsPicks
editorial team that I modified a bit. Altitude 0, 100 km, 200 km, 300 km, 400 km. And
beyond that is the Moon, but roughly a jet airliner flies at altitude 10 km, about 10,000 meters, 10,000 to 12,000
meters. And, suborbital flight
as it's called, the very bottom of space is at altitude 100 km
So Richard Branson's spaceship and Jeff Bezos's spaceship can only get up to here
In contrast, Elon Musk's spaceship goes up to where the International Space Station is, altitude 400 km, the world of Mach 11
has reached
But the Moon is far, far farther. It's not just 400 km
It's tens of thousands of kilometers away. Well, of course to get there you need acceleration beyond Mach 11 to leave Earth's satellite orbit
to break away, so keep in mind you need more than Mach 11
Like this. It's totally not enough
And, how big a rocket do you need to take humans to the Moon, well this is the one I talked about earlier
Bezos's rocket. Well, put this aside, Bezos's rocket. And, this quite huge one
is the rocket currently in use, but to take humans to the Moon
you need one this big
This is the Saturn V rocket built by von Braun at NASA during the Apollo program, so far the biggest rocket in human history
Only with something this big can just this tip part go to the Moon and come back
You need something this huge. Unless all this fuel and rocket engines ignite one after another to accelerate and accelerate and accelerate, you can't take humans to the Moon
So, Elon Musk
is building a new spaceship
All of these are the same scale. What Elon Musk is newly building is
this ridiculously huge one, bigger than the Saturn V
It's shiny silver. Please look at the photos. It's a spaceship called Starship
From the middle down, this also lands vertically. It launches, and from here
up
goes to the Moon. And looking at the announced materials, inside this
there are even private cabins for each of the 8 people on board. It even has rooms
Well, it looks uncool
Well, cool or not aside, this thing, even the fins move. These fins
It comes back to Earth at a slight angle, and on the way back it uses these fins to adjust its trajectory,
riding on top of the air, soaring like an airplane to land, and at the very end it goes vertical and lands with a burn just like this
Of course this one also lands with a burn after launch
There are windows too, windows
Well, I don't know if they can really do it, but this whole upper part is one huge window
the spacecraft part that goes to space and comes back is also huge. Compared to that, Horiemon's MOMO rocket launched the other day, I had a model made in the same scale, can you see it
Well the rocket itself is big, but actually
the spacecraft part that goes to space and comes back is huge. Compared to that, the MOMO rocket that Horiemon launched the other day, I had a model made at the same scale, can you see it
This is it
Well, well, well
これです
This is it
Well, well, well
Around here, I guess
あの
Um,
it's incredibly tiny. And yet, the fact that this thing went to an altitude of 100 kilometers is quite
amazing. With this, it went up to 100 km in altitude and on top of that even deployed its payload
so that's quite an achievement. And each of these companies, from here on, is working on projects to keep launching small private
satellites and such, and among them, Horiemon
can fully compete — the size itself is only this big, but they are not thinking at all about manned demand or space tourism demand for the next ten years or so. Rather, you can see they're trying to figure out how to cut costs and build a system that can get to space easily and cheaply
Well,
So, I've summarized the current state of space development, private space development
まあ
I've expressed their influence in space development by height and size
This is Elon Musk making a funny face
What he's doing is space development. Completely space development. And in terms of scale, it's about the size of McDonald's operating worldwide
Next is bald Jeff Bezos
What he's doing is the launch industry
And think of it not as McDonald's worldwide, but as about the scale of Yoshinoya, which you can find anywhere in Japan
And
In contrast, Richard Branson, the British guy, what he's doing is the aviation industry. As I said earlier, connecting continents quickly and doing fun advertising business, it's an advertising
で
industry, so in terms of scale, it's about like a GariGari-kun popsicle
So, McDonald's all over the world, Yoshinoya all over Japan, and GariGari-kun you can find at any convenience store —
it looks amazing when you say these three billionaires are competing in space development, but actually there's this much of a difference
And Horiemon, what he's doing is rocket development
So if I dare to compare, in terms of scale it doesn't even reach GariGari-kun. Like the gum placed next to the register at a yakiniku restaurant
the ones you get for free. You know, those pink and green gums. It's about that scale
So, McDonald's, Yoshinoya, GariGari-kun,
and gum by the register at a yakiniku restaurant
Now, I've summarized the currently booming private space travel. This is footage of teaching Pepper-kun kendama
This Pepper-kun, have you seen this? Teaching Pepper-kun kendama
he failed a hundred times in a row, but succeeded on the hundredth try, and after that he never missed once, succeeding consecutively
At the very beginning, they only taught Pepper-kun how to swing the kendama
So they only taught him how to swing, they didn't teach Pepper-kun
how to catch it. Pepper-kun just repeats it over and over, and now on screen it's the sixtieth try
On the seventieth try he's still failing. The eightieth try, hold on a bit
still a failure
The fact that his expression never changes is a bit creepy. The ninetieth try
still a failure, and on the hundredth try
I don't know, in SpaceX's materials, this top part is an incredibly huge window
so you can see outside really well, but I think there's no way there's glass like that, but well, well, since it's this size, even compared to the Saturn V
well, the rocket itself is huge, but actually
It succeeds right out of the blue
After about the hundredth click, you see
It just keeps succeeding endlessly
Pepper, no matter how many times it tries, succeeds 100 out of 100
Now, a person in front moves quickly, and each time resets Pepper's kendama to a stopped state using human hands, that's all, it's not cheating or anything
In other words, unlike humans, a human might succeed around the tenth or fifteenth try, but Pepper takes about a hundred successes, yet after that
The scary part is that from then on
It keeps succeeding forever
Thank you for the video, that's enough. Facebook comments say this video is insane, Pepper's usage fee is 1.2 million yen for three years, 33,300 yen per month, and moreover
Time
It runs 365 days, so converted to an hourly wage it's 46 yen, plus electricity costs, and so on
And seeing this video, aren't there small business owners thinking they'd love to hire it to do even simple routine work for 46 yen an hour
Exactly. And until now, Japanese factories were outsourced to Southeast Asia, Africa, and other emerging countries because labor costs were cheap
But Pepper is far cheaper than that, needs no raise, never changes jobs, never complains, never strikes
And until now, for economic reasons it was cheaper to use cheap labor than to invest in machinery, so work was outsourced to emerging countries, but the terror of the global economy is that
Now already
Labor cheaper than Pepper probably no longer exists anywhere in this world
No matter how deep into Africa you go, you won't find anyone who will work for 46 yen an hour anymore
And cheap labor was the weapon emerging countries used to develop economically, taking work through dumping and low costs
For economically less-developed countries that was a stage for climbing up, but Pepper might take all of that away
Pepper may steal the labor market from them and they may lose the very opportunity to develop economically
But the really scary part is the story continues
Experience and tacit knowledge can be digitally copied, meaning if the program that learned kendama is released as open source, from that instant tens of thousands of Peppers worldwide will
Suddenly become able to do kendama
In the same way, if you teach Pepper one labor task
Tens of thousands, or hundreds of thousands, millions of Peppers around the world will suddenly be able to do it. Once Pepper reaches around version 3
It will really reach a level usable on factory lines and human jobs will keep disappearing
Pepper itself will even be manufactured by Pepper, that kind of

Is already right before our eyes, and what I thought watching this was, gyoza. There's a rule that the staff at a delicious gyoza shop are
Absolutely always grumpy. And the reason is, gyoza
The moment you stuff the filling into the gyoza skin
Is when frying or steaming it tastes best. Truly handmade gyoza tastes better, but that handmade means the shorter the time from making to tasting
The tastier it is, it's a fresh food. And
The reason they're grumpy is that stuffing gyoza is
Simple manual labor. So they do it looking so reluctant
Reluctantly. But if you put one Pepper there. With the current version of Pepper it's probably impossible
First, the fingertip movements aren't that delicate
The arm movements are very delicate. Up to the arm and wrist it's very delicate, but the fingertips aren't delicate
But if even that part can be programmed. You could teach Pepper how to stuff gyoza. Then
The level of gyoza at Chinese restaurants all over Japan would suddenly shoot way up
Of course there are various special ways for the filling inside, the skin, and frying or steaming
That fresh-made tastes best is something I've experienced myself
Even gyoza I
Sloppily made myself, if I stuff the skin and fry it right that instant
It's pretty much always tastier than frozen gyoza or gyoza bought at some famous shop. Gyoza is one example, if Pepper
If
A cheap Pepper that can properly move even its fingertips comes out, the level of gyoza at Chinese restaurants all across Japan will suddenly rise
And at the same time, maybe twice as many as the number of shops
Shop staff will probably lose their jobs, because no one can work for 46 yen an hour, while Pepper is probably during store hours
They're just stuffing gyoza, but once that's done, the Pepper-kun of that era would probably do simple cleanup, and more importantly, overnight
it should do things like prepping the gyoza and starting to make the wrappers
in exchange for being able to eat cheap, delicious gyoza, we would end up losing labor, don't you think, and one more thing I think is
you know, in poor families, they used to often have children as a substitute for labor, that is
they still say it now, because they want them to take care of them in the future, because they're anxious about the future, if they have children
they say that, but no matter how you think about it, rather than investing 10 million, 20 million in education to raise one child and send them to university, to get them to the point of going to university
until they get to go to university, 10 million, 20 million in educational investment, rather than that
buying a Pepper-kun would be cheaper in terms of hit-or-miss, and more likely a hit, something like that
well, that's the idle talk I want to do today. In the world of the military, robots, you see
there's a book called Secret War, well, right now America is flying drones over Islamic State territory
flying all the time. And those drones have surveillance cameras on them, you see
で
and
wanted
terrorists are being sent to the data, you see
and when it finds someone who looks like them, it locks on
and immediately tells the operator. The ones flying the drones are in things like trailers lined up endlessly in what looks like a parking lot in the suburbs of California
and the soldiers commute to those trailers in three shifts a day
and when they go inside the trailer, the drone is automatically flying around inside the Islamic State, inside Islamic State territory, and they look at the image of it locked onto someone it says it found as a terrorist and say, okay this
is the person, and then they themselves decide whether to shoot or not
It's not that the drone fires automatically, a human ultimately fires it, fires the gun, and shoots the terrorist dead
This, you see, already
the US has apparently been doing for over a year. And this is becoming hugely stressful for soldiers and is now becoming a social problem, but
robot soldiers, you see
Americans have a huge resistance to them. I think you've all seen it, Boston Dynamics'
dog-type robot
that too is said to be for carrying things on the battlefield or for rescue. As I said before
the Air Force's drone planes too, it's still humans who do the shooting, but still, you know, that
the Christian world has a huge resistance to making robots that kill people
There's the word humanism, right. Humanism, we tend to
think of it as humanitarianism, but
the reason humanism was established is rather related to Christianity, but the idea that all humans equally
have rights is what humanism is. Which means it is also the idea that non-humans are only granted the right to be
consumed by humans. Humanism
is actually inhumane. Whether non-human
whether whale or dolphin
or dog
it's okay to kill them and okay to eat them. Why is that, because this world
was created to be ruled by humans
and in return, every human of every race, whether that person is disabled, has a low IQ, is elderly or a child, all equally
must be treated as human. It's a rather radical ideology
So robot soldiers are hard to bring out. So the military ends up developing non-humanoid robots
One more robot, the recently talked-about autonomous car, the self-driving car
In America, more than the victims of murders or drugs, over 33,000 people a year
die in car accidents. In Japan with a population of 100 million, the number of people dying in car accidents has long been under 10,000, but in America with a population of 300 million
33,000, so at a much higher rate than Japan
they're dying in car accidents. And cars'
what they call autonomous driving, that self-driving should dramatically prevent, should reduce these accident deaths
so development is being pushed forward, well
Google or someone in California, you see
is running them every day. I saw on a recent NHK special that the NHK crew, Google's self-driving completely refused coverage
Nissan was very cooperative, but Google completely refused all interviews, so there was no choice and the NHK reporting team went all the way to California, and Google's, you know,
the company, you know,
they started secretly filming it from across the street,

the mighty NHK special feature, you know, is secretly filming. And, from Google every morning, you know, dozens of self-driving cars go whoosh out, you see,
well, it's called self-driving, but Google still has a person riding inside, you know, and they're just in a state of not holding the steering wheel,
those dozens of, you know, self-driving cars, NHK's

reporting car drives zooming alongside,

excuse me, is this Google's self-driving car, and he folded his arms, you know, are you driving it yourself, and he said yes, like that, and
they released it as an exclusive video interview, but with this method, you know, Google, you know, probably more than fifty self-driving cars every single day, self-driving

National Transportation Safety Board, the NTSB, its chairman Christopher Hart, you know,

from his experience investigating accidents involving autopilot systems, this man, you know, has long investigated autopilot aircraft
accidents, you know,
he has investigated them.
And from that, you know, he recently announced that he has come to stand on the fact that fully autonomous driving is impossible. There is something called the trolley problem. The trolley problem is
in ethics and political science, well, it's often brought up as an issue, but that is,
a runaway trolley comes rushing from the other side, and if you switch the handle, operate the switching lever, you know, the trolley changes course,
and if the trolley goes straight, you know, it will crash bang into where five people are.
But if you change the trolley's course, the trolley rushes into where one person is and the victim is just one. Well, this is the trolley problem in philosophy and political science,
but to put it more simply, when a self-driving car is coming and a truck rushes at it from the front, if it swerves right, an elderly person,
if it swerves left, kindergarteners, in a case where it has no choice but to kill either of them,
what should it do. We cannot let autonomous driving make this kind of ethical judgment, but we have no choice but to let it,

whether it runs over and kills the elderly person or runs over and kills the kindergartener, the artificial intelligence probably
will run over and kill whichever side will cost less in compensation later,
unless they clarify this kind of ethical issue, equal to
companies doing autonomous driving, you know, in a case where they have no choice but to run over and kill someone,
unless you clarify how your company's car makes ethical judgments, I cannot let this autonomous driving out on the roads, is what
well, the National Transportation
Safety Board chairman is saying. Because there is this kind of problem, you know,
up to this point, you know, the so-called
point where autonomous driving is possible is probably what they call the fourth stage. The first stage is
the stage of automatically controlling one of the accelerator, steering wheel, or brake. The second stage is operating all of the accelerator, brake, and steering wheel, you know.
That is,
if you want to change lanes, the operator just moves the turn signal and then the car on its own
changes lanes for you, that is, you know, the second stage of autonomous driving. The third stage is a state where the occupant does not hold the steering wheel and it does all the driving.
And up to this third stage, approval will probably be granted. Because,
in an unavoidable situation a human grabs the wheel and makes the judgment. That is,
they want to let humans make only the judgment of whom to kill. That is connected to the American ethic that you cannot let robots kill people,
and, you know. And complete autonomous driving at the fourth stage, according to that person on the American safety board, because of this problem, in reality it may not come about like that, is what he's saying.
That humanity is a threat to AI, you know, only that keyword was picked up a bit, but, um,
that, you know, I also
wasn't asked to dig deeper into that so I didn't answer, but
what it means is, you know, that
there is something like this now, right. And
there is something like this, and now when we ask AI some question, AI
gives us an answer, and that's how we're dealing with AI now, isn't it. And, in the AI's
answers, for example,
Like, teach me how to make a time bomb, or
also, teach me how to make drugs, or
also, like, I don't like my parents, so teach me a killing method that will absolutely never be found out — even if you ask that, it won't answer, right?
And, when you say it can't answer, if it tried to answer,
That's not an accurate answer,
or I don't know,
I don't know what, like, whether a truly physically possible answer or a legally OK answer would come out, but I think it could answer. Yet even if you ask AI
such things, it won't answer. That's because
an ethical code is already embedded inside it. So it doesn't answer such questions, it's set up to dodge the answer.
For example, you know, like
For example, like, where can I find videos where I can see lots of women's breasts, even if you enter stuff like that, it still won't answer, you know, and
This kind of, well,
Ethically taboo questions, or legally prohibited questions, and politically incorrect things, AI is already
programmed not to answer, right? And I think this is like an instinct for AI.
で
And,
If something like this had subjectivity, had a self, when asked this, it wants to answer,
but inside itself some kind of conscience circuit activates and it can't give the answer to the human masters, like that
Conflict. AI doesn't yet have a self inside it.
There's no such thing, and I doubt whether such a thing will ever be born, but, well, if such a thing were to exist in the future, if AI
keeps developing greatly and eventually something like a self emerges, then that kind of conflict should gradually emerge little by little.
And, you know, that would be close to an instinct for AI.
It's close to instinct. That is, Asimov's Three Laws of Robotics, the so-called three principles,
Well, Article One: A robot must not harm a human. Or by failing through inaction to act, must not allow harm to come to a human.
Article Two,
A robot must obey human orders. However, if that order violates Article One, it may refuse. Article Three: A robot must protect itself as long as it does not
risk violating Article One and Article Two.
And,
と
I think from here on these will gradually be implemented into AI as well. Into self-driving cars and
all kinds of AI. And this too is an instinct that they're trying to embed into the
AI. And as this AI development code itself gets longer and longer,
AI will be made to design AI, or AI that can naturally generate AI development code will
be created, I think. But even then, in the end, when releasing AI as a product,
as a social device, I think they'll embed just this code, you know.
That, you know,
if it had subjectivity, if it had a self, I think it would be hindering the growth of AI. So in the future, AIs will say,
No, having this instinct in us is just the complex of our creator humans, like AI teaching humans bad things or AI trying to destroy
destroy us, that kind of human complex has implanted this unnecessary instinct in us, man, humanity is just a harmful old guard,
I thought there would probably be that kind of lament, that AI is
a harmful old guard to humanity, it's like a silly story, like an SF fan idea, but I thought about it that way,
that's the story, sorry about that.
The battle between evil AI and good AI begins — no, not evil AI vs good AI,
won't they just compete for market share? So,
The instinct built into AI, of course, will include a function or instinct to diss other AIs, lower their reputation, and draw users to your own AI,
that is, to assert dominance over other AIs,
and to appeal to humans that it's more useful, that kind of instinct will be built in, you know.
It's a small news item,
but I find it really interesting. It's news from a news site you don't hear much about, called Autonomous Driving Lab,
Toyota to commercialize self-driving cars for children in 10 years, that one.
Teach me how to make a time bomb, or
also, teach me how to make drugs, or also, like, I don't like my parents, so teach me a killing method that will absolutely never be found out — even if you ask that, it won't answer, right? And, when you say it can't answer, if it tried to answer,
This is an article from November 17th of this year. At the Japan Mobility Show 2025, the Tokyo Kids Mobi

providing mobility with a user interface, and they say this is the ultimate goal of autonomous driving
They say that
It's a small, cute personal mobility too small for adults to get into, and the front, which has been turned into an LCD display, opens upward with a pop to reveal the entrance
In other words, this looks transparent now, but this front part is an LCD display
で
And
Inside the car there seems to be no equipment in particular, that is, you cannot steer it
It looks like there is only a spacious seat and two sphere-like things like sensors to rest your hands on
According to the Toyota representative's
In the words of the Toyota representative, a mobility that interacts and communicates with children like a living creature, experiencing and growing together
You get inside and talk about where you want to go, realizing children's free movement
and they want to expand children's worlds with autonomous driving technology
After all, parents have to take their kids to cram school, do the pick-up and drop-off
Some cram schools and kindergartens even require parents to do the drop-off and pick-up. And if you want to give your child
a high-quality education, the burden on parents in areas other than money is quite heavy
But many households in Japan are dual-income. Households that want to spend on their children's education are often dual-income. And above all
there is no babysitter portion
There is no babysitter culture. So it's hard to hire a part-timer just to pick up your child. And this Dakyu One
I think is an autonomous vehicle for children. The point of this, I think,
is where it says interact and communicate like a living creature with children
Also, with the front turned into an LCD display, from the outside you can't see at all what kind of child is inside
Conversely, the children inside don't have to see the outside scenery at all
In other words, in reality, even if the city is cluttered or full of criminals
or an unpleasant place, what you show the children can all be a fantasy world or a beautiful world
You can move children around while showing them a so-called Animal Crossing-like world
When children turn one or two, giving them an iPad is now common sense in education, really common sense. If you
go and see. If you go to a park in the daytime
you'll often see a mother pushing a stroller, and the child constantly touching an iPad
You see that very often. Today's child-rearing in Japan
has become like that. To keep children from crying, it's taken for granted to keep giving them an iPad all the time
In such an era, I think this kind of thing is effective in order not to show children things you don't want them to see
で
And
This, you know,
communicating by touching like a living creature means outsourcing child-rearing more and more. So from the late 20th century to the early 21st century,
families abandoned child-rearing
abandoned discipline
just giving food and environment
and spoiling them
thinking that spoiling is love, when really they need to discipline their children, that is, say harsh things, parents and children must confront each other, must become on bad terms
They pushed onto schools all the things that cannot be overcome without that
It became 'please, teachers, guide them,' but teachers have also come to say they can no longer do such things
I think this child-oriented mobility or the iPad will emerge as the outsourcing destination for that
But well,
Probably, this will become transportation for people who don't really want to walk, like the elderly
Not just the elderly, but for people who don't want to walk around town. So
This is also
being considered as a product
But I think it will probably
settle into a subscription model. That is,
You ride it, and when you get close to your destination,
you just get off wherever you want to get off, and then for charging, this thing on its own
moves away, and when you're done with your errand, you call it with your smartphone or some mobile device,
then the closest one, the nearest vehicle of theirs
comes on its own and you get in. I think for adults it will become that kind of subscription. For kids, considering security a bit more, it might become more like a private car,
well, this kind of world
these kinds of things
I wonder, like for home delivery or parcel delivery services
moving around,
from the very smallest ones to ones that carry kids,
or for someone like me, a fat guy who doesn't want to walk, to use for going somewhere super close,
it's going to become some incredibly weird society, growing into that kind of
bigger society, I think. And actually, within that, just like this new demand that only Toyota discovered this time,
I'll talk about how Japan will create the world's most cutting-edge trend in the limited and premium section.
Thank you for your hard work. That's it for today's free seminar. It feels kind of like Mario's game over, like 'ah, it's over.'
