Hello.
I always watch you thinking you're a funny old guy.
Thank you very much.
If you were a teenager, you'd really be my grandchild's generation.
My class is often scolded at the start of lessons to be back in our seats within the time.
The teachers are strict about time.
Some people even say to be seated two minutes before it starts.
But I can't accept it.
That is that teachers are loose about the end time.
Saying just a little longer, they extend the lesson and have a couldn't-care-less attitude.
Well, well, I also extend overtime all the time.
I understand how teachers feel.
I can't help but say it as a teacher though.
In other words, teachers are super strict about start times but loose about end times.
I can't help thinking that what is the end time for teachers is the start time of the next class approaching for us.
So here's my question.
Does this happen in the adult world too, is it relatable?
When and how did this difference in thinking about time come about?
It might be a trivial story, but I'd like to hear about it.
Well, that's right.
To be honest, it's kind of a trivial question so I picked it because it's a bit funny, but in terms of SDGs
if I answer in those terms, yeah that's right.
If speaking to students, first the teachers are the same too.
That kind of thing
Since teachers say it, they have to protect themselves too, I don't know if I should answer like that, but I'm of the screw SDGs, to hell with it mindset, so
Well, putting it in my own words, I don't know if you can see the comments flowing now, but in the adult world this is actually normal.
To give a concrete example, for instance there's presentations.
When a small company or whatever gives a presentation to some corporation, like won't you do this for us or how about this.
They present asking please buy our company's product, but the side giving the presentation is careful and absolutely keeps to the time.
If it's said to start at such time and end at such time, they absolutely keep it, but the side receiving the presentation casually extends the time or postpones it.
When told from 3 o'clock, they say sorry our directors, I mean executives couldn't gather so make it from 4, or make it next week, or oh,
that story is interesting so keep going, and make them extend for about an hour.
The side giving the presentation isn't only dealing with that one company, and in that
about an hour there might be a presentation at another company so really that must be troubling, but the side receiving the presentation says it without hesitation.
And the side giving the presentation has to somehow manage it.
Well, it's exactly like the relationship between students and teachers.
The reason this is taken for granted is that the side receiving the presentation is superior.
Superior.
This is, you know, a word teenage students probably rarely hear in daily life, maybe a concept they never hear, but superior.
And, among students, you haven't been taught that people's positions have ups and downs, right.
Everyone, probably, has been taught that people have no hierarchy.
There is no hierarchy among humans.
That's exactly right.
All humans are equal and fair.
That's right.
However, it's not the humans but the positions of humans that have hierarchy.
In other words, as individual human beings, a president and an employee have completely equal value.
However, between the position of president and the position of employee, a hierarchical relationship arises.
Positions have hierarchy.
This kind of true thing is blown away
First I explain the ideal that there is no hierarchy among people, and then right after that you learn the reality correction when you join a company, or more specifically when you graduate university and face pressure interviews during job hunting,
you're suddenly taught that, right?
Pressure interviews shouldn't really exist, and interviews themselves are strange.
But that is,
The company side giving the interview thinks about whether to hire you or not,
so because their position is superior they take that attitude, and
the side taking the interview, the students given the chance, are in a lower position in order to be let into the company, so
なる。
it becomes like that.
School is the same.
To be blunt, in school there is a hierarchy of positions.
Because there is a hierarchy of positions, a teacher can order you to listen, and of course you can also choose not to obey the order.
That's because as humans we're the same, so apart from positions we're equal as humans,
so you're free to act, but
in terms of position, a teacher can tell students to listen, or tell you you're disqualified and expelled from school, all of that is possible.
Please remember that human society runs by using these two contradictory rules differently: that people are equal, and that positions have hierarchy.
If you were a high school teacher and a student you teach asked you why they can't save what's written on the blackboard with a photo, how would you convince them?
The reason why you can't save what's on the blackboard with a photo?
I think I probably wouldn't say OK or not OK for such individual cases.
I think I'd answer that it's no good because it's no good.
If I were to forbid it, of course there are various ways of thinking, like writing it down helps you remember, or taking a photo is more rational, but if I were a high school teacher
and I had my own class, first as a unified rule, in this
school, in this class, I'd first decide as a broad framework whether camera functions or cell phones can be used.
And if I decided they can be used, then of course taking a photo of the blackboard would be OK, but
if I were to be a high school teacher, I think I would 100% prohibit operating cell phones or smartphones in the classroom.
And if asked why, I'd say there's no need to explain why.
That is what a school is, and if you don't like it then you don't have to come to my class, that's what I'd say.
That kind of, for everything there is a reason, if that is brought in, theatricality cannot be brought into school.
The relationship between teacher and student is that the teacher is great because they are the teacher.
I think educational effect exists precisely because of that somewhat oppressive relationship of obey me because I'm the teacher.
From university on it's different.
But up through high school, middle school, elementary school, I think the classroom simply cannot function unless we start from the premise that the teacher is superior.
My ideal is to have within that theatricality a false rebellion against the teacher and a false respect for the teacher.
I want teachers to tell students as a facade that I'm great because I'm the teacher,
and I think the minimum condition for running that class is for students to hold as their true feeling in the morning that just because you're a teacher I won't submit to you, otherwise it just becomes like a cram school or an online class
I think it would just become that.
People who say somewhat rationalist things like it's enough to take a photo of the blackboard, or school.
That school teachers just need to teach this kind of studying, I think that's a bit shallow.
For example, I 100% agree with Horiemon's claim that sushi can be taught at sushi school and
apprenticeship is a waste,
because those who go to sushi school raise the standard of sushi in the world,
and among them, the mere 1% or so of the population who truly want to eat real sushi can just eat sushi made by someone who did the apprenticeship, so
what's needed first is to mass-produce sushi chefs so that people can come into contact with the culture of sushi, that's what
I think, so sushi schools are fine.
But in middle school and high school educational settings, especially elementary school too, without theatricality there,
education itself cannot happen, unlike sushi where there are customers and what customers get is the cultural act of eating sushi,
a win-win satisfaction of eating sushi, a mutual consumer-provider relationship, it's not like that.
I still hold the illusion that school teachers, in elementary, middle and high school, are in a more political place, a cultural place.
Without that kind of theatricality it's a bit tough.
I think the purpose of school is simply to give all children a no-questions-asked education.
I think the purpose of school is simply to give all children a no-questions-asked education.
And, it's not because I want to go to school, but I think giving education unconditionally to both children who want to go to school and children who don't want to go to school is the key to raising national strength.
I think that giving education without question is the point that raises national power.
And there, you must not recognize things like students' autonomy.
Students' autonomy should be recognized starting from university, and until then, regardless of whether the teacher is competent or incompetent, the teacher should
be in a position of absolute monarch in a theatrical sense, I think.
In a theatrical sense, mind you.
So, if that teacher is incompetent but wants to act as if being kind to students,
an incompetent teacher who is kind to students is okay, and if that teacher really wants to be a meritocratic teacher who only picks out the capable ones, then such a teacher is also fine.
I feel like if we demand too much performance from teachers, we ourselves will no longer be teachers.
Well, when I talked about politics some years ago, I think we must not demand a high level of professional competence from politicians.
That only competent people should become politicians, that incompetent politicians should be eliminated, and so on.
Competent people
If you say that only wonderful people of fine character should become teachers and that other teachers should be eliminated, I think national education cannot hold together.
National education holds together because all citizens stretch themselves just a little
and I don't think it is education to make all citizens into elites.
This kind of talk just keeps going on and on.
Sorry, sorry.
The fifth person.
Mr. Faucet Thoroughbred, male in his 30s.
Ah, this person.
He's a doctor, an internist in his 10th year after graduation.
By after graduation, I guess I can take it to mean after becoming a doctor.
He is troubled about how to face patients.
I aspired to enter medical school out of intellectual curiosity about medicine, and even now I find studying medicine so enjoyable I can't help it, but
I have absolutely no interest in patients, and I have never felt a desire to save patients.
Hmm, hmm, hmm, hmm.
That said, I never cut corners in my medical practice,
and rather, when I was transferred, patients followed me and changed where they go for care, or
even years after my transfer, there are several people who send me letters, so I think they are satisfied with my care.
Oh, so he's a good doctor.
From an outsider's perspective, or rather from the patients' perspective.
However, no matter how much gratitude I receive from patients and families, I feel no sense of purpose or happiness in it.
Until now, I have thought that a good doctor is one who can provide better outcomes to patients even without noble motives,
and have worked steadily, but I also envy the passionate doctors around me.
Is there any way to come to feel the natural emotion for a doctor of wanting to save patients?
I want to become a doctor.
Ah, that last 'I want to become a doctor' is nice.
Well, this is my thought, but long ago, there was an NHK historical drama called Akahige.
Based on the original work by Shugoro Yamamoto.
It was set in, I think, the Koishikawa sanitarium in the Edo period, and there was the so-called
humane famous doctor called Akahige
and at first he was rebellious, but a young man who had just become a doctor comes to apprentice there.
And that young man who just became a doctor had acquired Dutch learning and such, that kind of Western knowledge, and with that
he tries to save more patients.
And with that Dr. Akahige, in what I think was the second half of that year-long drama, he says he'll go to Nagasaki to learn the latest medicine, then
he can save more patients.
So he talks about going to Nagasaki, and Dr. Akahige responds to that by saying
I can't do that, I can only think about saving the patient in front of me, like that.
And that young guy
And that young guy
Something like, don't you think saving five hundred people in the future is more important than saving the five people in front of you, and it becomes this huge kind of
argument, you know.
and in the end, as a matter of each individual's way of life, I think the young people went toward Nagasaki, but somehow that
Isn't this, for the advancement of medicine, the so-called rational way of thinking — to prioritize improving your own skills to save many people over the patient in front of you —
And what Akahige says against that is
it becomes the question of whether a person who abandons five patients in front of them after thinking like that is qualified to be a doctor.
And since it's an NHK historical drama, there's no single correct answer, but if anything, it's about Akahige-sensei, the protagonist.
Well, the protagonist is the young doctor, seen from the young doctor's perspective,
Akahige-sensei is a compassionate type,

a really admirable, skilled person you should respect, but if you think rationally, this person is clearly doing the wrong thing —
it depicts that kind of inner conflict toward him.
So, well, I think it's similar to that kind of issue, and also, as I've talked about here before, there's something called the Pro Teachers' Association,
which became a hot topic in Japanese junior high and high schools around the 1980s.
And the Pro Teachers' Association was a circle created by school teachers, and its idea is that teachers are professionals.
At that time there was a drama called Kinpachi Sensei, 3rd Year B Class Kinpachi Sensei, starring Tetsuya Takeda.
Through that, the image of a good teacher who is compassionate and passionately guides students,
who never does authoritarian control education but stands on the same level as students,
and who clashes with the students and also confronts the higher-ups trying to push control-oriented education — that was the story, but
well, there was an era when that kind of passionate teacher on TV was
hugely popular, and as a result,
schools all over Japan, junior highs and high schools, were flooded with teachers who wanted to become like Kinpachi Sensei.
And as a result, classroom breakdowns occurred — that's the Pro Teachers side's view. That is, what is education originally supposed to be.
What I mean by what, what school education is — there are many, many patterns of what education is around the world, but what is the school education Japan is doing now, that is,

uniform education, and why is that, because as a system for mass education, this is the best we can do now.
Of course, if there were more money and personnel we could do more, but that's for the higher-ups, the board of education chairmen and the big shots at the Ministry of Education to think about.
What can we actually provide to the children in front of us over these next few years,
there is only what we have now, so what should we do — and the conclusion the Pro Teachers' Association reached was that school is theater. And.
And what theatricality means is, first, make the children act as if the teacher is authoritative, without question — not make them believe it.
Well,
あの
and demand that of parents too — act with all your might that the teacher is great, that you should listen to what the teacher says, parents should do that acting too.
And teachers do so as well.
That's why the Pro Teachers' Association would never go to school in a tracksuit.
Appearing before students in a tracksuit means abandoning theatricality.
As performers, wear a suit and tie, and don't really answer the children's life worries or anything like that.
What matters more than that is to raise the children's grades even a little.
And things like the children's worries should be left to student guidance counselors or counselors,
or to talk among the children themselves or at home, and not do the Kinpachi Sensei-like thing of 'hey, what's wrong, got worries? Tell me about it.'
Protect this theatricality.
By protecting it,
only then will children learn, 'I see, this is the place called school, and here the rule is that the teacher stands in front and teaches the children, and we sit and learn,' and by learning this theatricality, even when they go out into real society, theatricality occurs wherever they go.
That was that way of thinking.
And I thought this Pro Teachers' Association was really interesting and a good attempt, but after about ten years of activity it fizzled out.
It fizzled out after about ten years of activity.
It fizzled out after about ten years of activity.
So I think this kind of systematic way of thinking doesn't really suit Japanese people.
The influence of Kinpachi Sensei still remains, but the Association of Professional Teachers has really just disappeared.
That movement itself.
So sorry, I've gone off topic, but my advice to this person is
Probably that
In the world of doctors too, like Kinpachi Sensei, wanting to save patients' lives, focusing on the life in front of you,
I think passionate teachers are the main type, well, of course there are those who do it for money or
unmotivated people who just inherit their parents' practice, but what this person sees is
the passionate type of doctor they admire, I think they admire what a real doctor is, but such passionate type doctors, like that Kinpachi Sensei
type
As those Kinpachi Sensei-type
teachers caused classroom breakdowns, they probably need
a follow-up role, they need advice and countermeasures, and I think that is this person's perspective
Someone who has no attachment to saving patients, yet somehow keeps producing great results
So if you're aiming to be a true doctor,
you should aim to be the follower, or rather,
the advisor role that turns the passionate doctors around you into true doctors.
I think you'd be better off seeking your way of life in something like that.
Sorry for commenting on an industry I don't really know much about.
It's close to that feeling of "ah, I fell" like a Mario game over.
Today I'll be taking up my old book called Our Talent Society, but I'll start with a case study.
A case study is a method of thinking about the underlying principles from actual incidents and examples.
Case study number one.
On Cambria Palace, there was a feature on Mercari giving visiting lessons, teaching elementary school students about the internet,
and this flip chart at the top is from Tsurukura Elementary School in Gifu Prefecture.
And there, they used the Mercari app with sixth graders.
Right.
There was a lesson like explaining how to sell things you don't need.
And what was interesting in it was that
they wanted to sell an unwanted T-shirt, but
there was a stain on that T-shirt,
and the question came up of whether it's okay not to show that stain in the photo when listing it on Mercari,
well, when a girl trying to sell it that way said that, a Mercari executive presented on it, and after this, there are opinions from the homeroom teacher and the children,
in the end, there were opinions like it's okay not to say it, or you'll lose out if you say it, but
they reached the conclusion that being vague about what you don't want to say will cause trouble later,
well, they came to that kind of conclusion in the end.
Well, the flow became that when you sell things online, you'll lose out if you're not honest,
and the children discovered that conclusion themselves and were convinced by it,
it became quite an interesting lesson.
It became a lesson.
Mercari does this as an elementary school lesson.
And this is actually already a moral education lesson.
Children with still low literacy can't easily understand unless it's explained in terms of profit and loss, or this is good and this is bad.
To such children, of all things, Mercari, an IT company, is teaching morality.
That's the kind of era we've entered.
Rather than school teachers teaching morality from textbooks or by talking to everyone, top members of an IT company
teaching them to sell unwanted things using the app, somehow
reaches the children's sensibilities and reason.
It has become that kind of moral education.
It's something like you absolutely have to live honestly.
So, has the day come when IT companies will replace the nation-state?
Well, I don't think it's such a banal conclusion, but this time, we'll use this book to decipher something like this incident.
It's called Our Brainwashed Society, a book I wrote in 1995.
The cover is by Takashi Murakami from his still-unknown days, Art Subin.
And the back cover, this part here is about how to read the ISBN code.
And if you zoom in on this part of the ISBN code, it looks like this, but the books everyone has also have an ISBN code on the back.
It's called the International Standard Book Number, and the first three digits, 978, are the same for every book.
978 indicates that it is an ISBN,
it's a prefix, so when the barcode is read, the moment those three consecutive numbers 978 come, it automatically judges, ah, this is an ISBN
the machine automatically judges it as a code.
The next 4 indicates that it's a Japanese-language book, that's the keyword.
This fourth digit, if it's 1 it's English, if it's 2 it's French, if it's 3 it's German, and 4 is Japanese.
And the next 02, these two digits are the publisher number, it's 02 because it's Asahi Shimbun Publications.
And the next six digits, this
256928 is the unique number for this book.
It's the six-digit number assigned to the book, and the very last 8 is a bit complicated, but it's for checking whether the machine has read the 12-digit barcode display correctly.
whether it can be read
it's for checking, called modulus 10, a check digit, well it gets incredibly complicated, but each digit...
times one, times two, times one, times two, times one, times two, like doubling by one, two, one, two...
and then each of the resulting numbers...
separating the first and second digits and adding them all up, and the sum...
then adding the first and second digits again
and finally subtracting that from ten, and so on, and the number that comes out is 8,
This is the number used to check whether the barcode was read correctly.
And, it's a book from 25 years ago, but
well, in it, things like online salons, Instagram-worthy photos,
global companies, matching apps, fake news, and the reputation economy, well, it more or less predicted the emergence of those things.
And i-mode, this is a book from 1995, but i-mode service started in 1999, and 1995 was right on the borderline of whether the Mova mobile phone would catch on or not, and the surveillance society, later I changed the title to the reputation economy society, but it was a name I gave in contrast to the surveillance society.
do you remember the thing called Mova, the mobile phone Mova, whether it would spread or not, it was right on the edge, well, the surveillance society, later I changed the title to the reputation economy society
but it was a name I coined in contrast to the surveillance society.
And, I talked about this a bit last week too, but this book was my first hardcover book, and at the same time as the first edition was published, I put the entire contents of it...
literally the full text, on the internet, for free.
I asked the publisher to do it as an experiment.
I asked the publisher and did it on my own site, and as a result, this hardcover went through five printings, it was printed five times.
And the paperback went to twelve printings, so it really became a bestseller.
And Nishino from King Kong, when he did Poupelle of Chimney Town, kept saying it's his theory, that he'll release everything for free,
and saying that sells more, but hey, I already tried that experiment 25 years ago.
Well, this is a bit of light bragging and dissing.
The detailed contents are, well, both then and now, published on the internet.
Please read it.
And this time's Case 1.
Mercari doing moral education in elementary schools is explained in this Chapter 2, the true nature of multimedia-centered national education, the true nature of national education.
Why Mercari does such a thing.
The industry-centered mindset has greatly changed even the education system.
The 19th-century British sociologist Andrew Ure stated as follows.
Once past the growth period, it is impossible to turn the child of a farmer or an artisan into an excellent industrial worker.
If young people are raised in advance by the industrial system, the trouble of later training can be greatly saved.
That is, public education is indispensable for industrial society, that's what he says.
He says quite a thing, this old man.
That's what it is.

That is, public education is indispensable for industrial society.
It's quite amazing what he's saying, but Alvin Toffler analyzes it like this.
Assuming factory labor in industry, public education taught basic reading, writing, arithmetic and a little history.
But this is, so to speak, the overt curriculum.
Behind it hides a far more complex hidden curriculum.
Its contents are three.
Even now it is upheld in industry-led countries.
To keep time, to be obedient to orders, to not dislike repetitive work.
These three things are in fact what is demanded of industrial workers premised on assembly-line work.
In fact, the compulsory education that all of us have received had such a purpose.
It is often said that the most important purpose of compulsory education is not acquiring knowledge but learning group life.
But learning group life was actually practice for performing mechanical collective work in factories.
In other words, in this book it is written that it was a special training system for assembly-line workers.
It is written in this book.
We are a bit surprised, like, Mercari teaching at school and such.
There is resistance, or rather, because we think education is justice.
Well, that surprise is rather naive.
Originally the very purpose of school education itself
is to make them do repetitive labor in factories, it is like a shortcut for raising such workers.
And as Andrew Ure says, the trouble of later training can be greatly saved.
Well, it becomes the every-type, but
what compulsory education originally is, compulsory education is
many people think it means children have an obligation to receive education, but originally it is a tool to separate children's education from the home,
compulsory education is, in the era of the Industrial Revolution in England, children were raised at home and educated at home,
So there were books at home and parents read to their children and had them do arithmetic in front of them, and at the same time, that was after dinner, and during the day parents took their children along to the farm or took them on boats to fish together.
They were made to help with that kind of work.
And children raised by their parents until about age ten
even if later taken to a factory when grown, do not readily become workers.
Instead, unless from childhood they accumulate training like sitting down when the bell rings together with peers of the same age, or becoming quiet when the teacher stands in front,
in that way, unless they accumulate such training,
they will not become personnel who work in factories.
By parents
well, children raised by, well, farm children, village
farmers in villages, or children raised by village artisans absolutely do not obediently listen to people or read books like that.
で、
And,
well, in that era of the Industrial Revolution, when children were raised at home, it was thought that farmers' children did not need arithmetic or history or Latin.
But then they cannot work in factories.
So compulsory education was born.
Parents have an obligation to have their children receive a certain education.
The obligation is on the parents' side.
They imposed the obligation on them.
And to fulfill this obligation, there are only two choices.
Pay high money to hire a private tutor.
Like in Heidi, Girl of the Alps, Clara's house is like that.
Clara does not go to school, and why that is okay is because they employ a private tutor.
And children of royalty, children of nobility, and well, children of the very rich too.
Around the time of that Industrial Revolution, sending children to school was something poor people did.
Rich people hired tutors and educated at home.
That is the proper way of a respectable household, you see.
で、
And,
So, it was this binary choice: either hire a private tutor, or as the other option, send them to a cheap or almost free public school, a school.
It was roughly that kind of binary choice.
And later, boarding schools as expensive as private tutors were born, the so-called grammar schools, like Hogwarts in England.
Something like Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry was born.
And so on.
Well, it became an option, but basically
that almost free public education was, well, a school for workers.
And since the compulsory education system was reluctantly created, farmers' children and artisans' children, for the time being parents reluctantly decided to send their children to school.
Ah, anyway, the most
they want help the most, the children are gone, so for them
it's quite a loss, but as a result the agricultural society and artisan society collapsed and became a foothold for industrial society, and at the same time children...
their parents, who were their masters in farming,
what parents were until then, not just someone who raised them or
something abstract like that, but they were also masters who taught them the work itself, how to do it.
The era when parent equals master lasted for a very long time.
For human history it had continued all along, but two or three hundred years ago it suddenly collapsed, collapsed in England, and school teachers started
to teach them things.
Then naturally, the unconditional respect for parents steadily declines.
その
That
in the era of Westerns, why American boys respected their parents was because there was almost no education
at school and parents were the only ones to learn things from, so children could naturally respect their parents.
And when that system was broken and we entered an era where people more knowledgeable than parents teach things at school,
it becomes unreasonable to hold the previous era's idea that you must respect your parents unconditionally.
で、
And,
that gaze of respect
is directed for the first time toward school teachers, and further beyond them
toward superiors at the company after getting a job, presidents, politicians, such great people, that
if you were a farmer's child, conversely, you would respect either your own parents.
or God, or maybe the pastor. That's about it.
They didn't really respect other important people in town, but after becoming an industrial society, children's perspectives kept changing more and more.
But, well, all of this up to here is from the 19th century to the 20th century, well, until around the 1960s and 70s, I guess.
What held true then was
this industrial society that Andrew Ure and Alvin Toffler, whom I mentioned earlier,
assumed is now collapsing, or rather has already collapsed, and what has become reality instead is what is written in this book as a free and fiercely competitive society, but because the phrase free and
fierce competitive society was too provocative, I later rephrased it as the reputation economy society.
And
で
if in a monetary economy society everyone is competing over how to earn money and become wealthy, in a reputation economy society, how to gather attention
and evaluation and gain influence, society as a whole becomes obsessed with the competition to gain influence.
For example, Mr. Maezawa, the former president of Zozotown, after resigning as president, suddenly says he'll give away one million yen New Year's gifts to a thousand people.
He says it's one billion yen in New Year's gifts, or says he'll hold an arranged date to find a marriage partner,
the reason he does such strange activities is that he is converting money, the 20th-century type currency,
into attention and evaluation, the 21st-century type currency.
But the exchange rate is terribly bad.
Converting the last century's currency into this century's currency is the least efficient, so even spending a billion, he only stands out that much.
Well,
あの
really,
looking at the list with Nishino-kun earlier, it's pitiful compared to Nishino-kun, it almost brings tears to my eyes. Converting reputation into money like this.
this.
Even though the exchange rate is so good, exchanging money for reputation... it makes you feel like the exchange rate is so bad,
Well, when it becomes that kind of reputation economy society, children's admiring gaze changes as I mentioned earlier.
When the industrial society, the monetary economy society collapses, in the old days,
As I talked about earlier, originally children respected their parents as their masters in farming, but then they came to respect school teachers or important people in society,
or rich people who succeeded in making money.
This was a change that happened in the past.
And the change happening now is that children can no longer unconditionally respect companies,
their bosses or company presidents, who are their masters in making money.
Just as they used to be able to respect their parents unconditionally,
and then the object of respect shifted to school teachers,
Now, as industrial society and the monetary economy are collapsing, those seniors in the world of money-making, like company presidents and bosses, can no longer be unconditionally
respected, admired —
that is, the collapse of the Showa-style salaryman, so to speak.
What they respect shifts toward people who gather attention and ratings, like celebrities and YouTubers.
Well, this is the shift in perspective among children in today's society.
And automatically, then, the hidden curriculum of this industrial society changes too.
Being punctual, being obedient to orders, not minding repetitive work — these automatically change.
The curriculum of the reputation economy society is like this.
Keeping promises, answering questions, and being honest with yourself and others.
Well, I've written 'by Mercari' here.
The morality that Mercari is teaching children.
Why Mercari teaches morality in elementary schools — that is, keeping promises, meaning don't promise what you can't do.
Answering questions.
On Mercari, if there's a question, answer it properly, and so on.
Being honest with others and yourself — if there's a stain on the clothes, show that properly too.
Take a photo of it and show it.
These are things that, as the curriculum of the reputation economy society, can hardly be taught except through Mercari.
Up to here is the first case study.
To help you better understand our pre-agricultural society, well, this was the first case study tried with current news.
It's like Mario's game over, I think it's close to that feeling of 'ah, it's over.'
