Prime Minister, do you recognize that this issue involving lawmaker Yanagi cannot be closed with this?
The series of issues surrounding former Agriculture Minister Yanagi, which began with the budget-cut remark,
I believe he has not yet fully fulfilled the accountability that would satisfy the public,
and I expect him to continue to fulfill his accountability as a Diet member.

criticized the Prime Minister's slow response, which took nearly two weeks until his effective dismissal.
I think the public judged that the budget-cut remark alone made him unfit as a minister.
Prime Minister, you did not draw the line at the time of that remark.
Don't you think your own judgment was wrong?
There are cases where a politician's words, actions, or political activities become
subject to deliberation in the Diet, but in such cases I believe the politician himself should first fully fulfill his accountability,
so I have urged him to do so myself.
The fact that you did not tell Mr. Yanagi to quit at that point means you judged that remark was acceptable?
Prime Minister Takaichi,
that is not the case.
I told him to work hard and make up for it through his work.
Well, to me it looked like you were protecting your own. You didn't want to damage your own Cabinet,
and having one person quit would mean admitting your own fault — weren't you reluctant and afraid of that?
That's how it looked to me.
Prime Minister Takaichi,
that is, I think, Committee Member Tsujimoto's

impression. That was not my intention at all.
This time,
a lack of crisis management ability has been pointed out.
That you lacked crisis management ability. Dragging on and on — I find it very regrettable that you were seen as lacking in terms of crisis management ability.

Well, both the Land Ministry and the Agriculture Ministry were in great confusion.
That is your own Cabinet, isn't it?
That you could not bring that under control —
This is not about having your phone by you during a disaster. You should apologize not for your appointment responsibility but for your poor handling.
Prime Minister Takaichi, pressed to apologize,
said that at the point when the person has not fulfilled his accountability,
whether to dismiss him — that was not my thinking. Fulfilling accountability properly,
that I considered to be most important first.

it was decided that the consumption tax cut-related bill will enter deliberations from the 8th.
Do you believe that people's lives are already fine with what the Takaichi administration has done so far?
I do not think it is already fine. There are people in great difficulty,
and I think there are also those who feel anxious about the future.
From opposition parties questioning the effectiveness of a consumption tax cut as a measure against rising prices, benefit proposals are coming one after another.

is considering a plan to provide about 50,000 yen to low- and middle-income earners by next March.
Komeito proposes about 80,000 yen per person over two years.
We have put together a plan to provide cash payments in yen
Well, regarding the consumption tax cut next April, I have to say the timing is a bit too late
Well, within this year, or within this fiscal year if possible
I think we need to implement support measures to protect households
We are not currently considering providing payments within this fiscal year
In this year's year-end adjustment
3,000 to 60,000 yen per worker
Well, this
Will be returned, so to speak
But payments take time. Even a uniform-amount payment, based on past examples
It takes about 6 to 8 months, based on past examples
So I think it would be very difficult to get it into people's hands within this year. On top of that, it can be implemented starting next April
Well, I think that would be the fastest
